I was installing a new perfect pass hooked up power from the power lead off the tach perfect pass acted erratic like low voltage hooked power to ign switch it works fine but with key on lost power to all gauges and I don't here the fuel pump energize but eng cranks any ideas sounds like a bad relay somewhere

There's no power lead on a tach- if the gray wire is where you tapped the power, you need to learn where you can find 12V for accessories.

If you tap into the wrong wires, you can do some really expensive damage to your electrical system. Disconnect your Perfect Pass completely and see if it starts- if it does, look here for a schematic for your boat and start over. Read the manual/instructions again and look for any info about where to tap for power. Also, any positive power lead needs to have a fuse inline, close to the connection. Solder/heat shrink is best, followed by Heat N Seal butt connectors. If you don't have a multi-meter to test for voltage, stop and either get one, or have someone else install this for you- your ECM would cost close to $1000 to replace if you damage it.

I'll second that.
PP is erratic when hooked up as per the instructions. I gave it my best shot on my boat and finally gave up. If I really felt it necessary to hook up again I would try giving it an isolated circuit all by it self and not tapped into the boats harness at all. So B+ with circuit protection, a switch and a ground from the battery directly might be your best option.
Good luck!

If IRC 12+ is a purple wire.
Best way is to use a relay to power PP.There's a schematic drawing somewhere on the net posted by Thomas Wayne.
I'm not a specialist to Google things but give it a shot...

I know I have seen that schematic on www.thewaterskiforum.com. The search feature on that site is a little tough, but it's there.

Yes the tach has power as all the instruments from ign purple wire to the kill Switch and back to the instruments and activates the fuel pump etc. found bad connection at the kill switch. hooked perfect pass directly to the ign switch purple wire all works great.
