Go figure that it is nice all week and now it thunderstorms when I get a chance to take the boat out. Anyways, is anyone using there old school MC's for a primary wakeboard boat. I am but I want to maximize the wake and I'm looking for suggestions. I have a ton of weight in the boat but I just can't get a good pop off of the wake. Also, and this may sound dumb, but I'll ask it anyways. This is the first boat that I have owned(85' MC). I have been in many boats but never had to test my skills in reverse. This boat does not turn left in reverse, is this normal. I have to assume it is because every other turn(front/reverse) works just fine. Its just a rudder, if it goes left frontwards, then I would assume it should do the same in reverse.

Many more dumb questions in the future!!

sberry welcome!

I am not a real wakeboard type guy but my 86' throws a gnarly wake if throw 2 440 sacks between the sides of the motorbox and a 500 in the back. It is huge if you ask me!

DD's don't turn with a darn in reverse. MC"s are left hand rotation motors and you'll only be able to make the rear end kick to the starboard side in reverse. It just takes some getting use to. Your rudder is about worthless in reverse, I don't even bother trying to steer in reverse.

Welcome S!
The steering and handling of inboards takes some time to get used to.
There have been many discussions regarding this.
I personally love the way my MC handles.
Can't help regarding the larger wake.
I'm a slalom junkie and want just the opposite! ;)

Forget about backing up to the port side (have you figured out how to do that Stevo?). Other than that, once you get used to it you can make your boat's handling character work to your advantage. Like when docking alongside a pier, you approach at an angle with the pier on your starboard side, then right before you hit it, put her in reverse and "walk" the stern over to the pier. Works like a charm. ;)
