View Full Version : How many of you have named your boat ?

I've named a few of larger boats in the past but not my mc. Whenever I think of it, I think of a ski boat I saw last year. It was back/red inboard, gunwale was about 12 inches, loud motor. They named it "Fishin Sucks". Now, I like don't have anything against fishing, but when I think of that boat name, I have to chuckle a little bit.

The guy I just bought my 84 S&S from had it named the Silver Surfer. He is a huge fan of the comic book character and even gave me a Silver Surfer poster when I bought the boat, so I would keep the name alive. In his "man cave" he had framed Silver Surfer posters everywhere along with a couple of slalom skis and pictures of him skiing. It was pretty cool. So yeah, I guess my boats name is The Silver Surfer.

Naming is fine, putting the name on is lame, unless its a sailboat, has a cuddy, or is made totally of wood.

Exactly. I did a little in between on mine, actually its being done right now at the interior shop. Name of the boat is "Ms. B" after my daughter and I am embroidering it in the back of the motor box right underneath where MasterCraft will also be.

Bad luck not to name a boat, but some of the decals, painted letters or signs I have seen on some otherwise beautiful boats makes me sick.

I called my boat a lot of names when the fuel pump went out last year and I had to be towed in but have not named it. I agree with Duck guy. Call it whatever you want but leave the name off the boat.

Had a friend that had a 23' Sea Ray and wanted to name it Sea Witch. We started teasing him by referring to the boat as Sandwich which was enough to finally get him to come to his senses and leave the name off the boat.

IMO if you want to name a boat it either has to be a sail boat, an off shore race boat or a cruiser. On the other hand it is your boat and you can do whatever you like.

Don't name a small boat. We call it what we called our last one: "the Mastercraft."

We did name our Sportfish though -- "Miracle" -- which it is that I own a SF.

My boat name is "MasterCraft ProStar 205". No other name required.

While not on the boat, we have quietly named it the "E.R. X-star"

Not a good thing, but it's put 5 riders in the emergency room.....one of which was my son.

Some of my crew call it the "widowmaker" also. Well, at least it's black. :D

Mine WAS 'The Extractor', and I had good reason to name it that. Sticker was on the drivers window, NOT on the back.

Mine came with the name "Mastercraft". I didn't think I could top that so I figured I would just leave the chromed lettering as it is.

PO named my ps205 "RED ROCKET" I guess it is fine, but I would have never done it myself. If I do a totally redo of my interior in a few years I will also remove all decals and wetsand the gelcoat. I will replace all the OEM stickers, but not the name. I'll only redo everything if I don't end up buying a brand new x14. Last I checked it came with an all right name all ready. x14 has a good ring to it.

my wife names everything (cars, trucks, tractors, boats, even my RTV) ... but the name that stuck for our '04 X2 white/purple is "Violet" ... and no, it's not tattooed anywhere on her (the boat), merely a name we refer to her.

I have never put the name on a boat ... although every boat I have owned has had a nickname ... one day if I own something like a MC300 or bigger then I will name it ....

Some of my ski friends called my old Prostar 190 the "Pornstar 190"

It was also called the "Babymaker" ..... long story about a houseboat trip and my 2nd son.

The new PS214 ... well we just call it the "214" ....

....

I assume that name was not developed during the "shrinkage" season of fall or early spring....

Unofficially, "Black Diamond".

It's all black, it's a gem, and I bought it in Black Diamond, WA.

I am going the John Wayne route, naming my boat either Boat, or Hell *****! Yes, I am kidding. I will name my boat, but it won't go on the boat.

We named our last MC. A X45 Pro Tour Red/Black, the "Red Pearl". Actually my son who has autism named it. He loves pirates! His entire room is decorated as a pirate cave. He's been known to go to our shop and decorate the MC like a pirate ship. If I can find photos I'll post them. It's actually pretty funny!

It's always just been "The Boat". Got to winterize the boat....got to clean and wax the boat...everyone get in the boat...everyone get out of the boat.....etc.

Itís been referred to by many other unmentionable adjectives during times of knuckle busting repair jobs.

Does this include calling it names or more specific naming the boat?

I have never given a name to a boat this size, however I have called it a few choice names.;)

The previous owner named my boat. Put Prostar all over it. I kind of like the name though. Like Super Star but Pro!

When I got my MC, my relatives named it the MasterCrash as the PO had tried to put the end of the dock through the starboard side. As soon as I completed the repairs she has always been referred to as the MasterCraft.

We name our boats! Our previous boat was named "Nece lightning" Named after my girlfriend. Nece is pronounced as niece. I don't know were lightning came from though. Probably, the stripper pole, disco balls, and blow up dolls.

Our 2011 X55 will be named "Deja Brew"... in remembrance of all the wonderful alcohol consumed on "Nece Lightning"

I've had a few suggested to me.

After I had the wrap put on some bloke said I should call it "Skull Drag"

Then while we were surfing one day and watching little kids on the shore playing in the rollers my mate said I should call it "Tsunami"

But yeah, just can't beat "The X80", say's it all really.

Nice Darkside sticker. We all can use a little bit of the Darkside, especially when foiling!

I have never named any of my small boats. The first house boat I owned was named Z-Way,previous owners name started with a Z. I never changed it maybe a little superstitious and I didn't mind it. My current house boat the name had to go. Never officially renamed it but we call it the johnboat.
