I've seen in the options for mc that they have hydraulic steering. From reading it sounds like salt water option but I don't understand why it would be. Anyways Ive seen a few build sheets on mc boats & some list it and others don't. Just looking for info.

I bought my '09 X-Star used and hydraulic steering was ordered on it. I don't have any technical data, but can speak to its functionality. Hydraulic cylinder is mounted to the rudder vs the standard cable. There's a hydraulic reservoir and fill port sitting on the SB side dash. No tactile feedback and the turing motion is smooth. My friend has an '09 X2 with standard steering. The feeling is different, but not radically. I like it, but I wouldn't order it on a new MC knowing how I use the boat. Hope my input was helpful. Happy motoring....

I have hydraulic steering on my 09 X-45 (not a salt water series boat). Its not a must, but for a bigger boat it helps, especially when loaded down. The steering never veers, and its very smooth.
