I am looking for a trailer for my 2004 197, I came accross a 2002 single axle mastercraft trailer for a 205V, X-Star, X-2, X-1. Does anyone know if this trailer would work very for my 197?

I don't think it would work very well. The 205V trailer is going to be longer than you need and the axle is positioned farther to the rear than you would need even for a 205 DD. When you put your 197 on there, your engine and most of your mass will be forward of the axle resulting in a tongue weight you will not like.

could you modify the trailer so the boat sits further back on the trailer? you have about a foot of difference between the 205V and the 197, 197 also weighs less than a 205V would (eh.. 400 lbs isnt that much though). definitely would have to be mindful of that tongue weight though

A member here used a 205 trailer while he refurbed his 197 trailer. It fit, not ideally, but a little rework of the bunks and it could work.

He removed the guideposts and fenders, so there might be a width issue we have not discussed. Also, the 205V trailer's axle would be farther aft than a 205 trailer. The tongue weight would be heavier.
