We recieved our first 2011 x 25 yesterday. There are a few updates on the 2011 witch i like.
The 2010 was already a good driving boat so i wonder how the new 25 will drive with the new fins under the hull.
Also the new heater outlets are great.Small but nice and a good place to put them in a cup holder.
Is there anyone who has driven the 2011 x25 with the fins and if yes how was it?.

Um....My 2011 doesnt have fins on it.....
I didnt actually look really close under the boat, but I dont think I would miss a set of fins under it. Why would they put fins on a deep v hull anyhow?? You are making me want to drive to the marina and look under my boat :D

just looked at our that was delivered Firday... No fins...was it supposed to have fins? Does you rear seat flip down? ours does not althought the '10 did and the '11 on mastercraft's site has a down down rear seat with drink holders?

I dont think they are supposed to have tracking fins....its not a flat bottom hull, so i dont see a need for them. I am no hull expert though...

My '11 has the flip down cupholder in the middle of the back seat.... Yours doesnt?? That would be really weird, Considering that your interior was made the same day as mine.

If it was your boat I saw at the factory, it was only 3 boats behind mine.

I will look at it closer but it does not appear to come down. I will try again.

Thanks

Our 2011 is still at the dealer so I haven't actually seen it yet but I don't recall any of the 2011's I have seen having tracking fins. They do have the new prop strut that extends beyond the shaft which is pretty cool.

I have a 2011 that I bought the end of last summer and it does not have tracking fins. I looked at a 2009 x-35 that did have them. It was the first deep v hull mastercraft I had seen with fins. I think it is an option that you can add if you want. On my 25 seat, the center section of the rear seat folds down as a step to walk through the back transome and it has cup holders. I really like this option as it keeps you from stepping on your rear seat. Plus it is a nice place to keep a cold beer!

X-25's equipped with the 6.2 LS3 engine get tracking fins, 5.7 and 6.0 liter boats do not. I saw them making the jig for the fins when we were down at the factory last December.

My boat has the 6.2l, but no tracking fins. The only possibility could be that they install the tracking fins after they lake test the boat. I saw my boat get lake tested.....and it had no fins at that time.

It is indeed a 6.2 liter ilmor.
I take a look at the rear seat tomorrow.i did not look at that yet.
We did not order the fins seperate so it is a standard option.

Here are some extra photos from the mc.
No one from the fins do.

The tower needs some supportlegs but that will come i hope in a few weeks.

What do you mean support legs? I thought that was the new Power Tower?

It is the new powertower but like the ztf3 tower it is a bit shakie without something to make it stiffer. On the ztf3 tower they made the 2 supportlegs at the side of the tower. They should make something like that for the powertower.
But i know there are a lot of desiners working to get that done and hopefully before the start of the season.

What i mean is that they know at mc that there is a lot of discussion about the tower and if it was my product i would take care off that.
What i ment with the old tower is that without the supportlegs it was not good. The invented the legs and the tower was good.
Maybe the factory is working on something else to get the last little shake out off it.

You can order almost every MC with tracking fins if you want.

They only put tracking fins on boats that need them as the boats are tested and validated. With the new Ilmor 6.2L there are a handful of boats that get tracking fins as the motor has that much power the boat is up out of the water moreso and needs the extra stability/handling. The 35, 45, and 55 get tracking fins with this motor.

I gotta run to the marina tomorrow and see if mine has fins on it now. It doesnt really matter to me either way......I just want to know, And supposedly my boat showed up today!!

FourFourty, it really does matter as this is a safety issue not having them with the new 6.2l motor.

In that case, I hope it has them. I didnt see them on it at the factory though... I will know soon enough.

This is kinda of intersting, if the factory is truly building backing plates into the fiberglass for any parts that are through bolted then why wouldn't just put the tracking fins on all the boats instead the ones with the Ilmor 6.2L? Seams odd.

Sully,

I asked a couple of the MC guys about that and their statement was that in testing the boats without the 6.2 (5.7 and 6.0) the fins really added nothing to performance or handling (keep in mind this is on deep v hulls and not ProStar hulls which get fins regardless of engine). The 6.2 is a lighter engine than the 5.7 or 6.0 and has substantially more torque and horsepower which made the rear of the boat drive higher out of the water, the fins were added to allow these boats to run with the new motor.

On a similar note all boats have aluminum blocks added during the build regardless if they receive a tower at the factory or not.

My boat is at the dealer now, and I went and peeked under it...... it gotz fins. I was either blind when i saw it at the factory, or they put them on after the water test.

Pretty sure I must have been blind

FourFourty, just curious what top speed you are getting in your 35 with the 6.2L Ilmor engine?

My 2011 X25 will be delivered end of July I think. Any changes I should make. I went with the 5.7 motor thinking it will be better on fuel. How much fuel is that 6.2 burning on average or per session, any of you guys have info? Let me know. My CSX 220 burns about 8-10 gallons an hour with the 5.7 Indmar.

It's a good change, with the fins.

I'm curious about the tower braces mentioned earlier...........

My boat is a X25..... I wish I could tell you what I get for top speed, unfortunately, it is not warm enough here yet. I should hopefully have her on the water within a couple weeks, and I will let you know.

Not that this gives a good indication for a boat..... However, I do have first hand experience with the 6.2l in a truck. I had a 2008 Sierra Denali with a 6.2l and it got better fuel mileage than a sierra with a 6.0l or a 5.3l. That was very surprising to me, considering that the Denali is AWD and you are spinning more driveline components than a regular Sierra that you would usually run around in 2wd.

That being said, the LS3 variation (which is what Ilmor starts with for the marine engine) has a different valvetrain than the 6.2l Denali engine. The rest of the base engine is the same though.

My point being, the Gen IV GM small blocks seem to be more efficient.....More power with less fuel. I am hoping this applies to the Ilmor 6.2 as well, but I highly doubt it will get better economy than the 5.7l. I wouldnt be surprised if it is better than the 6.0l though.

I need the weather to improve!!! It will be a while before I can have good data on the 6.2l in my boat though...

dropped our new X25 in Saturday. The 6l Ilmore was great. Smooth, quick, responsive... top speed was 43 in 1-2 foot rollers and 25 mph wind.

I wish we would have picked a better day for dealer check out, but a a few hours on the lake was better than work. I now have to decide whether to winterize it again or hope it stays warm. This weather sucks... I'm ready for spring.
