I would like to take off my Tow Ski boom from my 1986 Mastercraft ProStar 190 and have it power coated. Does anyone know how to take it off the boat? I used an allen wrench for the ball and that came off pretty easy? Also is the original Chrome, I bought the boat used as I see a lot of them black? Mine is Chrome, thanks.

They're should be some u-bolts at the bottom of your pylon.Open the engine hatch first and look for them.
Good luck!

Thank you, I can see how to get the top U bolt off now but how do you get to the bottom one?

I believe there should be an access hatch under your observer seat, at least that is how it works on an 88.

Are you saying, you cannot get a socket or wrench on the bottom u-bolt nuts?

One bolt you access through the engine compartment, the other through the bilge cover... The round access infront of the pole. I also have a 86.

Thank you to all, I got it! Acutally it is a 1989 sorry for the confusion. I will add a pic later. Should the boom go back to chrome? The majority that I see are power black? Also what is the best web site to buy parts?

Disregard, the more I look at on line, the more that I see are Chrome instead of powder coated black. Think I will go with the Chrome, thanks again for everyone helping get this off.
