You might want to take a look here:

I think that the cans are built so that the lights can be added, but I'm not 100% positive.

I will look at my cans closer but based on that it appears that you can and the price is not terrible. Appreciate the recon

Yes you can, no pun intended! If they're the newer 7.7 cans. The front part of the can detaches and install the light portion.

Aftermarket tower lights might cost a little less but who could argue with how clean the factory option is. Hope that works out for you. Definitely the way to go.
Btw, if and when you add those light fixtures, you will lose the airtight integrity of the speaker pods. This can easily be restored with a couple of simple 1/8-inch thick aluminum panels which still allow service of the lights from the internal or speaker side. We have a finished example of this procedure on our site. It will improve the speaker power handling and longevity.

I have both speakers on my 07 X2 and the end caps of both have rivets that hold them in.
so I dont see how you could add these.
oh and ha David this is Terry from Dobbs

Terry that used to work with Will?
Give me a ring.
Can you drill out the rivets and replace them?

Anyone ever come up with conclusive information on this thought? I've found a pair of '02 cans that I might buy...but really wanted to have the ones that have the lights mounted in the rear. Anyone have a set of those? Or...did anyone figure if there was a way to retrofit the lights??

You can definitely add lights to any cans from 2007 and newer. We sell the end caps with light at MasterCraft By Design.

Thanks,

But not earlier cans, then, right? These are from '02 as I mentioned. Any way to retrofit them with your lights?

I have some cans with lights from the factory(03 model) that I might be getting rid of. they look good on the boat but the finish is rough up close, I planned on refinishing them at some point. I might be getting rid of these if you are interested.

thanks,
