Sounds like a good price ! Very low hours. Not sure about the engine but nothing wrong with a Mercruiser. As a comparison I paid 13,500 for a 93 Pro star 205 in 2007 with 1500 hours. Great boat you will love it, I do! My first MC to and if I was to compare to the 10 boats I've owed before this is a number 1 in quailty next to SeaRay.

Don't think Merc could possibly be OEM, but somebody smarter than me can verify for sure. By 95 MC's were all Indmar pwered AFIK.

I have a 94 205 (same boat) and the only engines from the factory were the Inmar 275 and the Chevy LT1 that I knew of.

Something is wrong. Stay clear. Should be an Indmar/GM engine. You might want to buy it... but no one else may want to buy it from you! Resale! Resale!

The Mercruiser is definitely not the stock engine. As mentioned, the options in 95 were either the 275 hp Indmar TBi 350 or the 310 hp Indmar LT-1.

Sounds like it's been repowered with a mercruiser inboard engine. Perhaps not a benefit for resale, but functionally the only difference would be based upon which Merc engine is in there. That can be easily determined by getting the serial number and having a conversation with a Merc shop.

We need to get our two boats together at the Buckeye Bash this August.

If it's a mercruiser under that MC engine cowling, it's still not OEM, even if it's a 94. Not that it wouldn't be worth buying, but just speaking to the motor origin.

My first boat, a Marlin Magnum Skier, had a Mercruiser engine. It is not as good of a design in my opinion. The impeller design is difficult to change.

Not an option in the MC, not stock. The biggest question is, why was it changed out and why not an Indmar.

I would guess something went wrong and the po got a better deal on the merc. A guy on my lake has a mid 90's sammy duval MC that he put a merc in after the engine blew. He said it was cheaper.
