Wow! Has it been restored??? What a beauty! Tell us how you found it.
It looks like early 80's???
Do you know the year?
I think the hull ID# (engraved on rear of hull) should be able to tell you what year it is. Get that # & call a MC dealer or send a note to MC themselves.
Otherwise, I'm sure some people will chirp in on the exact year & model name "Stars -n - stripes" or "Skier 19" or something like that....
Windshield makes it look early 80's to me, but not sure.

I'm glad you saved her.
You have quite a bit in common with many in here that have restored these beauties.

I am thinking an 82 1/2 or early 83.
It has the 83 dash and mirror, but appears to have the 82 and before wood stringers.
Very nice boat!!

Yeah, wood stringers and the lower case graphics (assuming original) would put it in the very early 80s.
As for the avatar, I stumbled on a few Family Guy avatars that were the right size and went with it for a while.

I'm pretty sure they swithced the windshields mid year 82. I would say with wood stringers it would be an 82

The 82's had a wood grain dash. The 83's had the alunimum dash panel.
I always thought all 83's were fiberglass stringers, but have learned on here that the early 83's or sometimes called 82 1/2's had some of the features of the 83, but still the wood stringers.
Also the 82's had a combination teak lid for glovebox and mirror. Great glovebox, worthless mirror.

I would put money on it as a 83. Man that boat is IDENTICAL to mine! all exept for the gauges. Mine is a 84. How did you find the carpet to match? I had a upolstery shop hand make the skins for mine but I ended up with carpet that was a shade darker.
Gotta say your boat looks sweet! Great job
As you can tell my computer savy only goes so far. Bare with me as I will get it sooner or later.
Oh and by the way, nice looking boat.

Amber6 (or anyone who has worked with the oldies) What do you do with the swim platform brackets in the back when they start to get loose? I don't like the "feel" of the bolts on mine when I tryed to tighten them. Are they just lag bolts? Any way to plate the backside of the transom where they would come thru? I dont dare want to tackle it without a plan
Welcome I too am very new. I haven't even learned how to post pics yet.

Welcome to the board! I just sold my 85 S&S this year to upgrade to a 98. I had owned it for 8 or 9 years and a couple of years after I bought it I was experiencing the same issues with the swim platform brackets. On my 85, the brackets were held on the transom with screws that were screwed directly into the glass (the glass is not that thick). The top screws had been bandaged a couple of times with wood until the top screws came out and wholes the size of a dime were present in the glass. I pulled the gas tank and took it into a fiberglass shop. They cut out part of the floor (the brackets to the platform were below the floor) which gave them access to the holes. They filled the holes with fiberglass resign and put a couple of pieces of glass behind the holes for added strength. I purchased new brackets from MC which allowed me to remove the platform when needed. The fiberglass shop then installed the new brackets by through-bolting them through the transom and into metal plates and using the locking nuts on the other side. The new brackets covered the previous holes thus no finish gel coat work was needed. They repaired the hole in the floor and I reinstalled the gas tank. The shop charged me $500 and should have probably charged me twice that. Anyway I sold the boat almost seven years later, still holding strong. I never worried about it again. If you tinker on boats, you probably could do it yourself. Good Luck

They are just lag bolts. I bolted mine through the hull and used a 4"x6" aluminum backing plate. Wont move an inch. We have had over 500 pounds on it

Amber, the last two numbers of the hull VIN will tell you the year model. Yours will be an 84 or 85.
Welcome and a nice looking machine indeed. I have an 85 with a similar color scheme. I took out the red carpet and replaced it with a silver/grey and am very pleased with the enhancement.
