Can anyone help me find a tow cover for my tower lights and speakers?
I tow my boat the lake and the lights get covered with bugs... what a mess! Does anyone know a company that makes tower covers?
thanks

I've seen the ad in Wakeboarding Mag. Its a sock that covers the whole thing. Don't have the mag here but I'll look tonight when I get home. I do remember they seemed pricey though.

I also have a terrible problem with bugs on everything. This in no way solves the problem, but makes keeping it clean a little easier. Because I use them for everything else, I tried Mr. Clean Magic Eraser's, and they worked great. The nasties do tend to fall in the boat though. Have the shop vac handy. I have also heard that waxing the tower will help in cleaning it next time. Haven't tried it personally, but makes sense.
I live 10 min from the ramp, and I have to fold the tower to get it in my garage, so I think a tower cover would be more hassle than good in my case.

Go on ebay, search for "tower cover", or "tower speakers", there are always a few people out there. I like speakersox.com better than the ones I have for mine.

I hafve some Wake Designs speaker covers, and they keep the bugs off of the speakers, but if the rest of the tower and racks and light (9 of them) are covered, then it doesn't seem to matter. I do still use them however.

Try www.speakersox.com
I bought a pair of their covers and they work great, and they are affordable.

If you want a truly low tech and almost free approach, I might have an idea for you. A friend of mine that tows his boat regularly here in Florida was faced with love bugs smashed into his speaker grills on the tower. He had 4 speakers and covered the side toward the bow of the boat with Saran wrap and then would rubber band it in place. When he arrived at my lake, he would simply take the saran wrap and bugs right off and throw it away. A little cheesy, but inexpensive and effective. Good luck.

MTSkier – It is great to see someone from Bozeman on here. I grew up in Montana and went to school at MSU. Anyway, I have the 2005 Zeroflex Tower with four speakers and had a local canvas shop make me covers that protect the tower, speakers and racks. I used the same material that the Mastercraft cover is made out of and it works great. It is nice to get to the lake unzip the covers dunk them into the water and the bugs come right off. I will post some pictures tonight.

I'm going to start using the plastic wrap that you can buy at packing stores that comes in different size widths. Just wrap it around the tower and equipment for towing, then tear it off when you get to the lake.
