I have a 2003 Prostar 197TT which when I let go of the steering wheel the boat tracks to the right. The steering is very light so it seams to torque steer when tracking forward. I have considered a no feed back steering cable. The boat fins appear to be all straight. Does anybody have any suggestions. I am not sure if you can adjust the steering tighter to stop this.

Thanks

Welcome to TeamTalk!

First, read here (http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=25333) about posting in the Team Talk Help thread. Posting here does not get much traffic, so an answer to your question may never come.

Second, this topic has been discussed numerous times. A post has been made in the FAQ (http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showpost.php?p=107070&postcount=10) area. You can also search around with terms such as "tuning the rudder" or "filling the rudder".

Most like the positive pressure on the wheel because it helps with tracking through the slalom course. Use it a while and it may grow on you.

Good Luck!

It's supposed to track to the right.

Tracking to the right makes it easier to go straight!

you have an adjustable tab on your rudder than you can change to detune it a bit but i'd recommend to keep it as it ... design intent

Careful all this advise is from the other hemisphere. You may find your MC tracks different than ours because your on the other side...:D

Don't change a thing. Soon, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

great point on the other side of the hemisphere .... sort of like the water goes down the toilet bowl counterclockwise down under

Bugger, My boat goes right as well, maybe I should get it fixed so it goes left.

mnesbitt73, Your boat is the same as mine and does the same thing. It is as others have indicated, loading on the rudder.
I drive our waterski club Malibu LX, 2 - 3 times a week and notice how loose it is after driving my boat.
Where are you based?

my X14, granted its a different boat, is very neutral in its steering .. i honestly miss that feel from my '02 197

Easy enough to fix. Take a file to the right trailing edge and you're golden.
