I would look at some way to remount the ballast pumps so the electric motor is point up and not laying down like they are.

The pump in my 06 that was mounted upside down went bad. I've read a few reports about people having issues with pumps mounted without the motor being straight up.

Yeah, but look how easy it is to get to the ballast impellers!!! I barely noticed the engine when I saw that; my impellers are an absolute $&^%(*^ to get to.

Yeah, it's probably easier for me to the pull the pumps to change the impellers, but I'd rather do that then buy a new pump every other year. As many post that I've read about pumps going bad that were mounted upside down you can almost bet there is going to be an issue with them. :(

I had a pump go bad this year due to the rear seal leaking water into it. I doubt water would have gotten into it if they were mounted horizontal like these are. Or at a minimum I would have had a chance to see that it was leaking because it was mounted somewhere I could at least see the pump. On my 07 X2 they're mounted behind the panels on the stern. You can't get to them, see them and they're hard to work on even when everything is a apart. One of the projects I have for this spring is to relocate the pumps to the transom behind the engine like on the 2010 X2s.

I've machined an aluminum block that allows me to turn the pump right-side up and moves it about an inch away from the back wall. The issue with my pump was that once turned right-side up you could no longer attach the inlet hose to it. Offsetting the pumps with the block gave enough room to connect the hose.

On this X45 it looks like there is enough room to just rotate the pumps upwards if you made a bracket to mount them to. Looks fairly simple really.
