View Full Version : Replacing cigarette lighter

I have a 91 PS 190 and the 12v plug is dead and needs replaced. I went to pull out the old one and realized the screws have backings to them in the dash. So it appears I have to pull out the face plate on the dashboard. Has anyone done this before? Any tips or potential problems that could come up? Or is it as simple as removing the dash screws, making the replacement and then screwing it back in?

Cigarette lighter? Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure that's a 12v plug.

yea... cigarette lighter??? ... anyone I've seen on a boat smoking... its either matches or a hand-held lighter... I'm with mart_it - I would say that is a 12v plug... I guess you could find a 12v lighter plug... and plug it in, and you'd have one...

Who knows... maybe it really is a cigarette lighter.

Thanks for catching that, I wasn't paying too much attention to detail when I typed it up. You're correct, it is a 12v plug-in, not a cigarette lighter.

It's an easy fix. Just take the screws out of your bezel, pull it forward and change the socket. It has spade terminals on the wires.
