View Full Version : Bluetooth headset, which one to get?

11-14-2010, 08:22 AM
I have been a longtime user of wired cellphone headsets but I manage to break them frequently(forget to unplug, etc.), and more frquently I am getting comments from people on the other end saying they can tell I am mobile.

So, I use a BB Tour and and to make the switch to a bluetooth headset but I have no clue as to what is good and bad. In the end my parameters are:
1) I don't want the person on the other end to know I am in the car, etc., so the quality has to be good.
2) I would prefer an over the head type setup as opposed to the small, in your ear type.
3) Cost effective.
4) Something with good volume as I have a hard time hearing some people through my previous headsets.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

A buddy of mine has a kit for his stereo and the sound from the overhead mic is not very good at all.

This is what I have:

I have tried many different ones and this one is the best. It is clear and loud on both ends of the call.

I would give it a try. If you don't like it Costco will take anything back.

I also recommend the Blue Parrot B250. I'm a commercial truck driver and this headset is the best I have ever used. I use it about 4 to 5 hours a day with no problems.

I just installed a BT module for my Alpine deck in my suburban and it's outstanding! It's made by Parrot so I'm starting to see a theme here. I will say it sounds better on BOTH ends when compared to my wife's factory Lexus system. The suburban sounds better than the Lexus.....go figure.

I have the Parrot. Sounds good on both ends of the call... I don't use it much though.

Thanks for the feedback and advice, the Parrot is on it's way and should arrive today or tomorrow. I will let you know what I think after I have tried it, however, based on your experiences I believe it will be exactly what I need.

Thanks again for the advice.

Well, I received the Parrott and used it today and it is everything that you guys said. Great quality on both ends and very easy to use.

Thanks again for the advice.

Looks like I am late to the game, but FWIW we have this cheap Samsung that works fine: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-AWEP470JBECSTA-WEP470-Bluetooth-headset/dp/B002DYJ0TI/ref=sr_1_cc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1290684476&sr=1-1-catcorr
