So after 2 years of a beard and before that college (no shaving required), I find myself dreading picking up the razor every morning.

Anyone got any recommendations for a good electric? You can spend some significant coin on one and there is so much marketing hype it is hard to tell what is actually good and worth the money.

I found this list-

Those electrics don't last forever. My dad would go through one per year.

Sorry not knowing your your skin tone this may not be the best way to go..........

Waxing
Waxing is one of the most popular solutions among my patients. Generally, it is an effective method to remove hair on the upper lip and fine hair on the side of the face, but I don’t recommend it for the chin area, where hair tends to be more coarse. Waxing can also be problematic for darker-skinned women, who sometimes experience discoloration due to irritation and inflammation. Depending on the type of hair you have, waxing results should last from two to six weeks.

Consumer Reports has always liked the higher-end Norelco razors; I just picked up a 7810XL (http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-7810-Cutting-System/dp/B001AJD0UM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=beauty&qid=1289180301&sr=8-1) to replace my 5-year old Norelco, and I'm very satisfied - it's a much better razor.

The only issue I have with them is they won't shave a 3-day beard; if I don't shave over the weekend, I have to use a blade on Monday morning.

I bought a Braun Series 7 about 6 weeks ago... best electric razor I've ever had. Skin is as smooth as a straight razor after each shave.
