I had a hose burst.....on my new 2005 X-Star this weekend. It has 68 hours...24 when I bought it...the MCX engine....were boarding with a boatload of 6 teens....running back to the dock it seemed to miss....opened engine and the hose from the water pump to somewhere had a 5 inch gash...it had blown open....towed back in....went to NAPA and got a new hose...installed it...boat runs fine....returned old hose to the dealer last night....I threw it over their locked gate...
They are mailing me a new OEM....
Anybody have any suggestions ot thoughts....

No suggestions except this is why I carry duct tape in the boat.
I do like the way you returned the bad hose!

I had a water hose pull apart on a “tee” fitting near where the water neck is on the engine block last time we were out (2005 X-45). We had just stopped for a second and went to take off again and the boat did not have enough power to get on plane and acted like it was missing. I looked at my gauges and everything was normal. Then I noticed both bilge pumps were on! Opened the engine compartment and it was a nightmare version of Walt Disney’s Fantasia show.
I pushed the hoses back on the fitting and tightened the clamps and everything ran normal again. Once we put the boat on the trailer I went through every hose clamp and tightened them. Some were very loose and could have created a problem if they were not attended to. It sure seems like Mastercraft has a disproportionate number of issues with hoses coming loose or breaking.
Does anyone know if the loss of power when a water hose comes off of the engine or blows like gr8smile boat is a limp mode that the boat goes into when it is not getting proper cooling water? My boats temperature gauge never moved off of 160.
There was an issue with the guy on the line at MC "shaving" the barbs off of the "T" that connects the heater hoses (this is not installed by Indmar). This situation has been resolved on the line, make sure your fitting has the barbs.
The reason the engine loses power and starts stumbling is due to the tremendous amount of water being taken into the engine through the air cleaner...it has nothing to do with "limp home" mode.

MYMC- That is exactly the case with the “Tee” in my line, there are no barbs and the hose slid off of both ends of the “Tee” not just one.
I wondered if the water being ingested into the engine would have been the issue with the loss of power. It was quite the spray adjacent to the air cleaner. I was happy that it did lose power and I did not continue running normal, filling the boat with water. At the time it happened I was 35 miles away from the marina and the sun was setting. Luckily I was able to quickly reattach everything and get home with no issues.

Not one of the times I like to be "right" about. Make sure you get it replaced.

Mine did not slide off....it blew....a very rough opening about 3-4 inches....it broke the rubber and the white cord inside....we out a new hose from NAPA that is corrugated....looks kinda like dryer hose....boat ran fine after that....go figure

It seems MC is having some issues with the water hose on their newer boats. The hose coming off was the problem that started all the issues with my '05 X-10. My friend has an '05 TT and he also had a water hose come off. Something definitely needs to be looked at in the factory. I recall reading several other posts and threads from people with the same issues. NOT GOOD

Yep, have seen this a couple of times before. Faulty hose...not sure what or how it could be detected ahead of time, but you sure don't seem to hear about this with cars???
