Hi Guys! I am the proud new owner of a 91 Prostar 190 and lovin it!! This forum has been a huge help so far getting to know and understand the new to me baby!
I am trying to confirm which exact engine I have? What I do know is that it is a 351 Ford Indmar Mastercraft Power with a 1:1 Velvet drive Tranny. I do have all the original Manuals but they don't indicate HP or just list the HP's it could be? I searched the threads on Team Talk and came up with a couple of hints but they conflict on my engine. First was a P in the serial # on the Valve cover = HO - no P on mine. Second hint was if you can't get the spark plugs out with a plug wrench then it is a HO - Plug wrench stayed in the tool box on my plug change, I needed a open ended wrench with a lot of patience!
Any help or redirect to an applicable thread would be great!
Happy Boating, Thanks
W

If it has the gt40 heads it's the HO. They will have three raised tick marks/lines. It will also have a dual feed carb

91 only had the standard 240/250hp Ford, unless someone changed the heads before you owned the boat...

My manual says a 454 BBC was an option but I have NEVER seen a 454 in the 91-94 hulls.

92 was the first year for the optional 285hp GT40 Ford.

The carb is a 4160 single line from the factory

Here is a picture of what the tick marks looked like.

Mine has only one feed to the Carb. I see you guys have the 91 as well, is your battery under the observers seat or at the back by the fuel tank?

I have one in each place. That's how it was when I bought it

The single feed line carb is the holley 4160. it came factory on the 91's.
