Early Christmas??!! What is your current prop and what are you trying to improve?

DooSPX

Factory Stainless OJ 14 x 18 three blade

better hole shot, better holding speed, smoother, flatter rooster tail.

talked to many people with the same prop on the same 91-94 PS190 hull powerslot both the 240hp and the 285hp and everyone loved the prop. holds speed like a vice, much better holeshot, flatter rooster tail, and no top end loss.

everything I wanted...
I have been talking to Eric for almost a year asking every question I could think of, and his customer service is TOP NOTCH!!! Never ONCE pushing me to buy a prop. now, after talking to everyone I could who had this prop on my hull, I got with Eric to send me a prop to try... If I like it, to buy. I know I will be happy. :D

Thank you Eric!!!!!!!!!

There have been many discussions about which manufacturer is better, 3 or 4 blade, etc. I can only speak from my experience. I put the OJ 4 blade on my 87 Powerslot and LOVED it. Hole shot was quicker and MUCH smoother. Speed was a lot easier to hold too. When I purchased my Maristar 200, the first thing I did was put the OJ 4 blade on it with the same results. I'm not a hardcore skier so I didn't notice any change in the rooster tail. With both of my boats, there was a noticable decrease in noise inside the boat (Even my wife noticed). Let us know how it works for you.

I will be sure to let you guys know the results...

The test will be done with the good 'ol butt-o-meter... and a time to a preset distance. I do not have PP yet. also pictures of the wake too...

Dang it!! A friend had a set w/ a 3/4-10 socket, but he cannot find it... what will work?A 3/4-10 nut will probably take a 1-1/8 wrench or socket. 3/4" is the diameter of the threaded area inside the nut (or the threaded area on the outside of a bolt) and 10 is the threads per inch.

I use a 1 1/16" socket and a torque wrench to tighten my prop nut to the recommended 50 ft lbs. Luckily, the torque wrench handle reaches one of the trailer frames which I use as leverage when turning the prop with two hands (w/gloves) to tighten it. The torque wrench scale is in view which makes it easy to see the 50 ft lbs mark...hope this helps, mac

PS: Look fwd to hearing the results of your new prop!

First off, I am going to test it out again over the weekend, but initial impressions are.....
WOW

The test was done with a 1/4 tank, gear, skier and driver and the bimini up.

Hole shot felt like I added 40hp!!! I was up and at 35mph before I even fixed my shorts!! CRAZY!!! Hit the throttle and the boat launched, planed out and was gone like never before!

Speed holding was dead nuts, never had to touch the throttle!

Speed holding in moderate turns dropped by a max of 2mph where before it would slow way down and you would have to throttle up.

Rooster tail from a skiers point of view was almost non-existent at 34+mph. Before, it was about 5-7 inches high. funny though, in the boat, it did not look different.

RPM's dropped by about 400 rpm-Now its at 3500 @ 34mph and 3700 @ 36mph.

Feel to the skier was SWEET, firm yet forgiving but not train like. Hardly felt the pull of the skier. (could feel it a bit more with the factory 3B)

There was so much bite, you can actually feel it just driving straight with no skier in tow.

Pull back the throttle was like hitting the brakes!

It did sing a bit under VERY light throttle.

It was VERY smooth, so much smoother than the factory SS 14x18 3 blade OJ.

Top speed... well, it did not hurt it that's for sure. It seemed to actually be 1 to 1.5mph faster. with the bimini up before, about 42 mph was it, now it seemed to be 43-44mph.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/DooSPX/IMG_0683.jpg

can not tell from in the boat, but being pulled the bump was almost flat!

OK everyone up against the wall. No posting your good news or excitement about the new toy you purchased if it's ever been posted on the internet before!

Glad to hear your new prop worked out for you. I've had very good luck with 4 blade prop upgrades on a couple of my previous boats also.

I personally don't mind hearing about new purchases and experiences even if someone posted it before. Never know there could be some new twist to the story. Besides if I'm not interested in a post I just don't read them. Amazing how that works.

Only if you use paste wax, spray-on is the best.

I have to mention "props" in this thread.

Well, I give you props for your recommendation of spray on over paste.

Amazing that some call out immaturity onto another, yet act like elementary kids themselves... The old adage, "The pot calling the kettle black" comes to mind.

Yes 1RedTA, I am sure the OJ454 13.7 x 17.5 4BLD .110 will work great on your boat as well. Just PM Eric and ask if the OJ454 will work good on your boat too. I can promise you this, after dealing with Eric, you will be a HUGE fan. His CS is the best! He never once pushed to buy a prop, but always answered EVERY one of my questions for almost a year before I bit the bullet! Plus, you can try for FREE!!!

I just got done with my final day of testing, and I have to say, I LOVE IT more everyday!!!!
test today was 93 degrees, bimini up, driver/skier, skis and about 1/4 tank of fuel.

It honestly felt like I upgraded to a new Prostar.... silky smooth, KILLER hole shot, speed holding like a vice, flattened the bump a bit and actually gained 1 or so MPH on top. The pull to a skier is firm yet forgiving...
I cannot ask for more than that!! Its incredible!!
Tomorrow I am going to get with Eric and pay for this bad boy!

I was waiting for another review of this PROP, I believe, I will upgrade before this time next year

As far as OJ PROPs I've spoken/dealt with Eric once before. He was comfortable about what we were talking about, was not pushing me to buy something I didn't need and didn't give off the attitude of " this guy is an idiot"'when I told him I didn't know $hit about this boat

Yep, I have the slot. Eric had to tell me, I was sure it didn't. My friend, whom I bought the boat from, said it was a 1:1 so I believed him. I had knee boarded behind it quite a bit. I thought the wake was awesome compared to my fathers 21 foot proline with a cuddy cabin and 225 o/b

Hang in there Jason. Glad you like your new tow. I liked mine when I got it. Start saving some couch change and save up for some engine mods. It will make it that much better. Besides the stargazer and prop upgrade the engine mod was drastic. If I had it all over to do again I would have done

1) prop
2) engine
3) pp

Instead of pp first. Enjoy the rest of your season.
