Just Won a bid on eBay for a 2007 TT Prostar 197. Have to drive from Ohio to Texas to check the boat out and pick it up. Is there anything particular that I should look for when I inspect the boat

If that's the boat that just ended, it looks like you may have gotten a great deal.

Thats a heck of a drive. I have done Ohio to Georgia to see and pick up a boat. How much of Ohio do you have to travel through? Good Luck!

When I bought my 2005 X-10 with 170hrs, the boat was fine, and the trailer had very little towing time, and looked brand new, but had caliper and oil filled hub problems on the way back home that left me stranded with a ruined axle. It took another trip 5 weeks later to finally bring it home to Texas. On a 2007, you should not have any trailer problems, but you will be traveling a long distance. If the trailer wasn't used much, the brakes might be prone to sticking. Check the master cylinder for clean fluid before buying. Some people back the trailer in the water too far and water seeps into the master cyl. You can join West Marine and add towing insurance for peace of mind before you go, just to have a backup. Hope that helps.

Welcome to team talk. You got the link to the FAQ on buying a used boat. I would for sure have a compression check done on it.

That's going to be a long drive. Stop Longview, we have a powerplant lake near by.(water temp, never below 80 degrees.) Make a few runs.

And don't worry about the green glow your body has afterwards, it will fad after a few months! :D

Your requested info concerning pre-purchase inspection was answered. You may also get some helpful insight from this thread (there are several good threads on towing long distances - this is one):

Guess you didn't have any trailer trouble. COngrats on the sweet boat. My low mile 06 trailer was a sh!t show ont he 500 mi tow home last year, but my buddy just bought a 06 X15 and towed it about 700mi home w/ no isuues.
Regarding the trailer, a little PM will go along way while you're shining it up this winter. Replace the plastic oil bath hub caps w/ the newer aluminum ones if not already done. New oil, use 90wt gear lube, the thin 40-50wt oil runs hotter (on my trailer anyway). Take the brake calipers off and anti seize the bushings they slide on, most common problem is they stick due to corrosion and don't float like the y should. Hit the bolts with anti seize before you re-assemble too, then they won't be rusted in next time you have to remove the calipers.

Great deal.... I have seen that boat on the lake in New Braunfels, Texas, several times.. Or one that was exactly like it! Glad you made it to Texas and back to Ohio with no troubles... There are many members here that live close to New Braunfels, Texas, and would of gladly assisted you with the inspection of the boat prior to your journey to our state....

Wish I had seen this sooner. My brother in law lives in New Braunfels and would probably have been willing to go take a look at it with you. Good looking boat. Congrats on your new purchase!
