I'm considering buying one of these: http://wakevideo.com/tower-mounts.php to use with this camera: http://www.amazon.com/Flip-UltraHD-Video-Camera-Generation/dp/B0040702HA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1287932127&sr=8-1

Am I foolish to try to do this with this tiny camera. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

I suggest using a camera with zoom capabilities. Unless something has changed, the Flip, GoPro and other small portable cameras come with a fixed lens.

They zoom (digitally)

We have a Flip Ultra HD and it is great for what you are asking for for the price. Yeah, a $1K camera will shoot better video, but for $200 it is hard to beat. You will get a little 'shakiness', but not as much as you would think. We use a different (cheaper, non-moving) mount and the video is nice.

If you want to see some sample videos, PM me an email address and I will send you a link to some of our videos.

i have the airtrakker that mounts under the tower. with the rope mount and light at the top there isn't any room to mount it on the top of the tower. It works perfect as long as you have a good camera. Tried the flip and it was ok. The gopro worked even better but i borrowed it through work and had to return it. Just got the kodak playsport. For me it's worked the bst so far. It's waterproof and the picture quality is the same as the others. I also purchased for $30 a solar charger for it and a remote. I mounted the solar charger next to the camera and you don't have to worry about the battery going dead all day. with the remote the driver can start and stop the recording so it doesn't continously record. Cool feature. It's all in the camera!
