View Full Version : Northeast get-together....anyone???

Anyone interested in a MC get-together in august?

Some ideas on locations:

Lake Raystown, PA (100 miles west on Harrisburg)
This is a great lake for ski boats, 28 miles long but not wider than 1 mile at the most. There is also a slalom course (permission?), great campground on the lake, camping cabins, bungelows, and a lodge if you just want a motel room. The resort has a beach, mini golf, and a waterslide park, too. The lake also has houseboat rentals. We've been going there for years. This is not that far from the Ohio border.

Lake Wallenpaupack, PA (poconos)
Another great lake, very clean water 4 campgrounds, motels, etc.

Lake George, NY
Beautiful scenery, many motels, Rogers rock campground (no hookups)

I'm sure there are other ideas out there. This could be a very casual get-together of like-minded MC owners.

Anyone Interested?

Hey guys,

If there is an interest in doing a northeast get-together, we may have a good option available for everybody. I am a partner in a marina on Lake Wallenpaupack. We are a MasterCraft (and Chris-Craft) dealer and we are going to be the host site for the Liquid Force Trip Across America tour on Labor Day weekend. There will be LF pro-riders doing demos and giving clinics, we will provide food and refreshments, there will be a live broadcast by a local radio station, and we'll be doing demo rides in MasterCrafts. It would be great for us to have a lot of MasterCrafts there to help promote the brand as we are a new dealer for 2005 and we're still developing the brand awareness on our lake as there's never been a MasterCraft dealer there.

Even if this situation doesn't develop into a northeast get-together, anybody and everybody is invited to attend. We prefer MasterCrafts but we're trying to make it a big event so people with any brand of boat (or no boat) are invited to attend.

We are working on an event page for our website at www.sterlingmarina.com. Feel free to e-mail me directly at bwiele@sterlingmarina.com.

Sounds like a great idea.

Not sure how it will work out with my wife’s work schedule as I have already worked her for the reunion and a trip to Gaston this summer. BUT don’t count me out!:D ! I'll work on it..

I was hoping that you would chime in here, Brian!

This could be a good thing for your dealership. I'm going to try and get a campsite that weekend. Hopefully some other MC owners can make it as well.

Maybe you could give us a short list of places to stay, since you know the lake well. Would you be willing to allow others to launch/dock at your marina? (that might be a nice gesture since we'll be showcasing out MC boats for you!)

Dave - We'll work on getting together the local information in an e-mail that we can send to any interested parties. Anyone who wants to receive it, send me a message to bwiele@sterlingmarina.com. Also, I got the message you left for me at the marina today and I'll call you tonight. It's hard for me to talk while at my "real" job.

On the question of launching, storage, etc. we would of course do that free of charge for anybody who attends. Since you are our guests, and we are your hosts...(reference to Blazing Saddles). We're just beginning to make a splash (pun intended) on our lake, but we're still very much the new guys on the block and I expect we will be for years to come. We've only been in business since April 2004. An event like this on a holiday weekend could be particularly impactful if we have meaningful number of MasterCrafts on site. Plus, we're already intending to make the event a party atmosphere for the Liquid Force Tour, and we can leverage off that to give it a MasterCraft focus as well. This has the makings of being an awesome time!!

We're still working on the format, the details, etc. so suggestions and recommendations are very much welcome. We are too new in the business to have an ego....

Brian,

Sounds like the makings of a great weekend! I'm checking around right now for lodging/camping possibilities.

I hope we can help you out as a group to make this weekend a success. It would be nice to see ALOT of Mastercrafts both old and new that weekend. (Brian, sign-up my son and myself for the wakeboard clinic!)

I just called Ledgedale campground (570-689-2181) and they have about 19-20 sites left (only $20.00 per night.) They also have boat slips ($15.00) available, but are going fast. This campground is the closest to the action.

Other campgrounds:

Ironwood point 570-857-0880
Wilsonville 570-226-4382

Other info at www.hawleywallenpaupackcc.com

Hope this helps.

njskier, Great idea for a Northeast get together. Maybe we could get http://castawaymarina.com/ to host us on Lake George next season.

WallenpaupackPA, sounds like a great event, just wish you were closer!

BUSS,

You're not far from the lake. I would think there are some small motels nearby.
Waiting for more info from our host, sterling marine.

From Brain W's lacky...

I'm working on some places to stay, I'll have them posted by tomorrow. There's quite a few campgrounds and small hotels. Just wondering, how many people will want to slip there boat while they're here, or will most be trailoring. We could accomidate a few slip spaces and store boats at the marina so you don't have to trailer all the way to campgrounds. I'll get to work on that. Should be a good time!!

Here's a list of places that you can stay. Our marina is located at the southern end of the lake on the northern shore, near Ledgedale.

www.sterlingmarina.com
http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=41.399733,-75.253601&spn=0.212116,0.232224&hl=en

A site of campgrounds maintained by the power company that owns the lake:
http://www.pplweb.com/lake+wallenpaupack/things+to+do/camping.htm

Here's the list of hotels: ALL AREA CODES ARE 570
Higher end places:
Ehrhardt's Waterfront Resort on Route 507
800-678-5907
Tanglewood Resort on 507 and 6
226-6161
Ceasar's Cove Haven Resoort off of Route 590
226-4506
Hotels/Motels:
All of these places are on Route 6 at the northern end of the lake near the damm. There are more places to eat and things to do in the evening at the northern end of the lake. It's about a 20 minute drive from these places to our marina. Just from driving by all these places seem reputable. I can't really suggest one place over the other.
Gresham's Motel
226-4621
Edgewater Suites
226-3740
East Shore Lodging
226-3293
Lakehouse Suites
226-2929
Pocono Pines Motor Inn
226-2772
Tuck-Em Inn
226-6460

Hope this info is helpful.

Looks awesome Derek - thanks bud.

I think pretty soon we'll start the "Official Northeast Get-together" Thread so we can keep everybody updated on the plans and schedule. We will also create a dedicated page on our website at sterlingmarina.com which we will keep updated. Please realize that we've only been in business for 15 months and this is the first event like this that we will be planning. We will work our tails off to be sure everything is well-organized and a fun environment for everybody - our location on the water and our facility will make that easier. Hopefully everyone will be in a party mood - we've already got a radio station lined up for Saturday afternoon, plus we'll be providing food and refreshments, and hopefully a party get-together on Saturday nite. We're open to suggestions.

** FEEDBACK REQUESTED **
I'm not sure what the precedent is on this - is it reasonable to request some amount of a contribution from attendees to help defray some of the costs? Would it be best to leave that as an option for people at the end of the event to contribute if they feel it is appropriate? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Wow, what a great weekend here. Weather was perfect and lots of people out enjoying the water. I was out Saturday morning skiing around 7 am. Can't beat the water then, had a great session behind our 197. If the weather is anything like this weekend for the reunion it should be a great time. Ledgedale is about a 2 minute boat ride from us, and it's in a no wake zone, you're boat's gonna be sit'n pretty there. Should be a good time for all, hope we get a lot of MC'ers come'n.
