I've got a 1986 ProStar 190 w/ 351 Windsor that's been giving me issues with starting, cold and hot, never used to.Thinking of adding an ignition conversion, like the HotSpark that I read about in this forum or possibly another type like the StreetFire CD ignition from MSD.Does anyone have any input on this or a suggestion of something more suitable? THX

Google Pertronix Ignitor on the net. They will have a electronic ignition set up to replace your points. Pretty inexpensive and very effective. I have had an Ignitor on my '83 for at least 10 years and have never touched it since.

In my former life I sold a ton of the Pertronix conversions (both marine & automotive) and never had one come back with a problem.

Pertronix rules! Get the Ignitor II and you'll never worry about it again. I've been running mine for 7 years without fail.

Just make sure you have full voltage getting to the coil from the battery.

Good luck,
