I was surfing (pun intended) through the channels a couple weeks ago and came across the Frankie and Annette movie Bikini Beach which was made in 1964. What made me stop was they were wake surfing behind boats riding regular long surfing boards, which I think may be all they used in '64. If they were surfing in '64 and there is film documented proof, why did it take so long to become popular. Also, they were mostly behind I/O without a lot of people in the boat and I'm pretty sure they didn't have ballast systems then.

You caught me. No I don't need to watch it, I have seen it so many times I have it memorized. Funny that you called me moondoggie, somehow it has become a nickname for me. To be technically correct it is waterskiing moondoggie.

We were wake surfing in mission bay in the late 60's when the glass was gone and the waves sucked. Used 9' long boards and just found Rubeneque women to come for the ride... Who said that wake surfing was new???

We were not using I/O's though. that would be suicide. vee drives (Hallets and Campbells) then MCs in the 70's.
