Does anyone have any experience with any cameras to help in backing up to your hitch? Something like this one?

My Tahoe has a factory installed backup camera. Works GREAT for hooking up to my trailer by myself!!!

Have a buddy that bought a simpler kit from NAPA and it works great!

I also came across this one, but I'm afraid I'll forget to take it off before I start moving :(

I saw this one (http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_3-5-Inch-Wireless-Backup-Camera-System-Peak_6050273-P_N3597A_A%7CGRP2021____) when I was at the auto parts store yesterday. It sounds interesting, but also sounds like it has a hard time receiving he signal on a normal sized truck.

I see there is also a model that is built into a GPS. It would be nice to have a multi function device. I would love to get a in new dvd radio with nav and backup built all into one unit, but $1000 or so is more than I want to pay.

I installed one of the 3 inch units (on a car) for a friend of mine that he bought at Auto Zone or Advance Auto. The camera mounts on the license plate and uses a RF transmitter. It looked pretty good to me. He's an older guy and after using it for a week he told me that he would rather just look over his shoulder instead of looking at the screen. I took it off the car for him and let me have it.

I've haven't tested it yet on my truck, but I "think" that if I mount the camera on the license plate it might be too close to the hitch to get a good view when it's at the trailer. If that's the case, I will come up with a way to mount it to the rear window of my truck shell.

That Peak unit is the one that I got. My truck is short bed and I will try to test it this week.

Once you get used to backing up with it, you'll NEVER wanna back up to a trailer without one again! The only time it doesn't work too well is, if there's a sun glare on the screen. best invention since cleavage!

Mirrors won't show you when the little ball thingy is right under the little cuppy thingy.

All this technical talk is confusing.

ever heard of mirrors?

I was going to mount a mirror on the rear corner of my truck like the UPS truck so I could look out my side mirror and see my ball and hitch.

My Denali has the camera in the Navigation unit. Previous post was right. You won't want to back up to the trailer without it again. Put it in reverse and the camera comes on. Mounted about 15 inches above the hitch with a wide angle lens. Priceless.

let me dumb this down for you guys then

learn how to drive

learn how long your vehicle is

learn how far it is from your bumper to the ball

look where your boat is the next time that you have it on the back of your truck in relation to the tailgate

make it look the same and you won't have any problems

Or just get a camera.
