Wow, lots more watersports applications come to mind.....gotta ask some basics first...

Top speed?

MPG?

Total distance you could ride??

I've wondered the same thing....also how does the rope not get tangled when the boarder lets go at the end? I think you would have one big knot there!

Speed would depend on what engine, the base engine is a 6.5 but the one in the pic is an 11hp. and the mpg would be determened on if you run it non stop or shut it down after every pull. This one is set up with a battery and it's key start so it's shut down after every run and could pull all day without a refill, try that in a MC :D

Here's a shot of the back side and it also fits into a tow reciever and can be used from there for those times when you need to get in and out quickly.

When you let off the gas the rope stops right where the rider falls or close to, no knots at all.

Top speed is about 27mph and you can put 1000 feet of line on the spool. If ya want to go faster and further I'm sure if there's a will there's a way :D

Looks like you are using the Harbor Freight Chinese clone of the Honda motor. Check this one out a lot of the Golf Cart guys are using; it is a Chinese clone of a Honda motor, rated at 16HP. They say if you pull the governor, put a header on it and rejet it, you can get about 20HP, thinking we are talking barefooting now!!!

Now that is cool! Sure looks like a great (inexpensive) way to learn how to wakeboard in controlled environment. Thanks for the pix, have a great weekend.

This one is the 11hp and the govenor was removed and it uses a torque converter as opposed to a centrifugal clutch. The base model uses a 6.5hp and can pull a 250 pounder out of a deep water start no problem.

Those 6.5HP's are great been using one for kart racing for the past 2 years without any issue's. Very innovative, very impressed, got me wanting to start scrounging through the scrap piles at work to make one or two. Where are you getting your torque convertors at, need one for one of the kids yerf dogs and just been cringing at the $100 + price tags for em

Looks like a lot of fun. Funny thing, you can't hit golf balls in those water retention parks, but it ok to wakeboard!

There are tours that travel the nation putting on exhibitions. Here's a shot from Downtown LB a year or two ago where they were jumping from one pool to another.. funny thing was I went over to see what they were pulling with and they had one of these motors piled up on about 10 bags of quikrete and four strap ties to each corner in the bed of a pickup. Felt sorry for the insurance company. Good way though to spread the sport!

I built a winch this past summer for a buddy for less then 800.00 we wasted lot buying pre fabbed peices.. Spool, chain, jack shaft etc. Used the 6.5 stock from harbor fright. Biggest guy we had around was about 240 and it deep water started him after a 2 or 3 tries to get used to it. The clutch is what sets you back the most, it cost more then the motor.
