My wife and i are going tomorrow to look at a x-10 for the second time. We are not pro surf or wakeboarders by no means but just want a good allaround boat. Just thought i would ask if this boat will work for that and if anyone knows of any problems these boats might have that i need to look for. We are gonna get to take it out all day on the lake! Just thought i would see what everyone thought before the check was written. Thanks

I have an X-10, 2004 with the MCX. Love it!

I have been told by a decent footer that he loves the curl at 44mph that my boat puts out (long line).
The surf wake is decent when loaded down with the ballasts
wakeboard wake is good.
ski wake....umm, not so good, but decent for the recreational skier.

MCX is "rated" for 350hp, I have no problem with hole shot, loaded down or not. I get 45-46mph with gps, depending on load.

I keep some water in the ski locker ballast to keep the porpoise to a minimum.

I would look the vinyl over real good. Lots of problems with stitching with 2002-2004 boats.

Do not run the fuel below 1/3rd tank, or keep an extra fuel pump in glove box. (see many threads on this board).

I had a Maristar 230, similar to the X-10 but almost 2 feet longer.

I would suggest checking these items:

Prop- My stock prop was a 14 X 20, too high in pitch for a good holeshot. Go with no more than a 13.7 X 17.

Rudder- Mine had the smaller style rudder so I changed it out with the updated larger rudder. This made the boat turn better, but it still tended to "slide" around turns since it had no tracking fins. Does the X-10 have tracking fins?

Wakeboard racks on my '03 where the "sliding" type which are hard to get parts for and were only made for a couple years. They did work well for me, I never needed any parts for them.

The wakeboard wake was good with a 750# sac in the walkway and 2 400# sacs in the rear lockers. I had no stock ballast tanks on mine.

Overall a very nice boat with lots of storage and a smooth ride. Just be aware of the items above.

Hi Cordark. Was just wondering if you picked it up yet? I went and seen an X-10 here by Half Moon Bay California, and the water in the ballast tanks was green?? Kinda gross and amazed at how a 6 yr old boat can be soo thrashed...

The MariStar 210 is a great compromise boat. It really doesn't do any one thing great but seems to do everything well.

It's an excellent choice if you were considering a I/O but wanted the extra performance for water sports, like the handling of an inboard and (of course) the inboard image.

I was actually looking for one until I stumbled upon a great deal on an 07 X2. The X2 was a bit more than I wanted to spend but the wife talked me into going the extra cash for the newer boat. I'm pretty sure she just didn't want me turning over another boat in two years and figured I'd keep a newer boat longer.

You didn't mention the price or give many details. What are they asking for it, how many hours and what options are on the boat?

We ended up buying a 04 x star that was a cleaner boat, for less money. It was kind of crazy, but a lot better deal for us. I will post pics of the new to us boat as soon as I can. Thanks for everyones help on the x10 but now I will have a few on the x star.
