On Saturday I am driving from NC to Resaca , Ga. to look at a car and if all goes well hauling it back on a Uhaul trailer . Mapquest has me coming down 85S , taking 20W to 75N to 136 Resaca , Ga. I was looking at getting off 85 at 129 to Gainesville ,picking up 53 thur Dawsonville to 136 out of Jasper on to Resaca . To see some of the country side rather than all interstate but I do not want it to add too much time , do not mind 30-45 minutes but not 1-2 hours . What do you folks in Ga. think ? Thanks in advance for your advice .

Google Maps allows you to drag a point on the route to reroute on specific roads. It will then recalculate distance and drive time.

I took the scenic route through southern GA once on my way to NC. 3 hours later I couldn't wait to find an interstate.

But according to Google maps, your scenic route shouldn't cost you more than an extra 15 minutes or so. Plus, that route would help you avoid Atlanta traffic.

Took a shortcut to get to Wheeling, West Virginia one time. Wouldn't do that again. Pretty much right out of Deliverance.

The route through Dawsonville connecting GA 400 to I-575 is nice, just hope you don't get stuck behind a slow truck full of hay!

Where in NC are you coming from?

Wasn't sure if it was pigs or me making noises knowing that this would be the one time the rental car would take a crap.
