Transom Remote Question

I have an '03 X-30 that came with a Clarion XMD2 radio and the transom remote. I also have the Clarion 6 disc changer. I later installed a Clarion Sirius receiver and FM modulator. No problems with the setup.

I recently found a Clarion XMD3 radio for a good price and bought it. These are my plans:

1) Replace the XMD2 with the XMD3
2) Take out the FM modulator since the XMD3 is Sirius ready and directly hook the Sirius receiver to the radio
3) Add a mp3 input to the aux input on the XMD3
4) Add a second remote for the driver

My questions are:

1) Will the XMD3 control the changer (specs said so, but I would rather have real-life knowledge)
2) Can I add a second remote
3) Will my current transom remote that came with the XMD2 work with the XMD3 - or do I need another model? I read somewhere that the '03 remotes do not work with the '04 radios. Sorry, but I do not have the model of my '03 remote for reference.

I know you can add two remotes. DIM sells a "y" cable that will allow you to use two remotes.

I suggest calling Clarion and asking them all of those questions.

I looked at your pictures - nice.

I had a 96 ProStar before the X-30. Still have a barefoot boom that attaches to the ski pylon and some wake sacs if you're interested. I even have a brand new (never used) teak platform.

I called up to my local dealer after seeing your reply to see what one sells for if you had to buy it. They were holding mine. Lady said that they sold it last week and just haven't gotten around to giving me a call to come get the money.

I am glad that you prompted me to call them. Otherwise, I may not have ever seen the money.

I have personally installed the XMD3 and wired in the original drivers remote on my 2003 197. The remote works, but the display on the remote does not.
