My '88 TriStar 190 is my first inboard. I have put about 20 hours on it since I picked it up. It has around 322 hours total on the boat. Since our family is starting to do more towing of tubes, skiers we are utilizing it more as a tow rig than any other of the boats we have owned previously. So I am towing more and coming to idle allot more often throughout the day. Just last weekend at idle I began to notice a real grinding / humming sound from under the rear swim platform. I talked to a TriStar 220 owner today who has the same scenario. The boat runs great, I have had zero problems. But what is this sound? Water cooling the manifolds, transmision cooling, etc?

Water palpatating against the undercarriage. It stays fixed when you turn and should rightfully make some sort of audible or otherwise sensual annoucement. Mine does. That's when I "HIT IT" :toast:

I agree with above... I think Tristars get more "resonance" from the exhaust, due to the placement of the exhausts and built in ski platform..
