I cannot seem to get a wheel seal not to leak on one side of my trailer axle. I have replaced it numerous times. When I purchased it, the previous owner said that he had suffered a bearing failure on the trailer but that all had been repaired. I am thinking that maybe the spindle was damaged more than originally thought and now it is not the right size for the stock seals. It is a bulldog axle. Anyone ever have a spindle cut off and a new one put on? What about a replacement axle? Are Bulldog axles still available? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

go to your local trailer supply store and buy a replacement axle. That will be easier than getting the spindle replaced.

Before you buy the whole axle make sure that the hub does not have a crack in. I replaced three bearings and actually had a cracked race before I noticed the small crack in the hub casting. A new $40.00 hub assymbly with races bearings seals and it never leaked grease again. But then again it could be the spindle.

Good luck

I have considered that but was wanting to keep my trailer original if I could but it is looking like that may be impossible.

Good idea. I have checked everything else so I feel pretty confident that it is the spindle but a second look will not hurt.
