View Full Version : 1981 Mastercraft Skier Steering Help

Hey guys. I need a little help with the steering on my 81 Mastercraft. This weekend while i was running home, the steering just stopped working. When i took the floor up, i noticed that the bracket on the steering cable near the rear of the boat had popped off the little ball-type bracket. I dont know what it is called or where i can buy a replacement. The bracket i am talking about is clamped around the steering cable and attaches to the "ball bracket" mounted to the floor.

I don't want to be stranded out there again. If anyone can help, i would very much appreciate it.

Might be what you are looking for. If not, call the folks at SKIDIM they can help you out.

Thank you. That looks like it may be a newer version of what i have, but i am not sure how i would mount it. My "ball" bracket that is mounted to the floor is basically a one piece bracket. I'm not sure how to mount that new treaded ball to the boat. I was planning on calling SKIDIM tomorrow, but i'm curious now what it's called.

That is a little different than the one on my '77 but I would think it would do the trick.

The one that is on my boat looks something like this but instead of being mounted to the side, mine is mounted on the floor.

That is what is in my '77 but mounted to the port stringer.

Thanks. I have no idea why mine might be mounted to the floor. It looks like it is at a bad angle.
