I'm not sure, but I think thats a picture of a "Thongus Undercarraigii" commonly seen in tropical waters this time of year. Lots of college students gather each year about this time to see them gather in schools. Many students make a long voyage just to see these unique warm water loving mammals. They are very easy to see on beaches in the FLorida area in March. Young adult female specimens seem to gather to find male mates and frolic wildly in the warm temperatures in engage some sort of prehisoritc mating ritual involving dancing. They are seen in colder climates as the weather gets warmer throughout the calendar year.

Ok, I know this thread isn't for these types of questions... but I have to ask, Seems like Mexico is the place to go this time of Year... I'm headed to Cozumel on sunday! 4 days away. How's the weather? any lasting effects from the hurricane? Can you drink the water with out getting the squirts?

M-Funf

Can you drink the water with out getting the squirts?

I stayed in Mexico City for 4 months a while back, and can make the following recommendations to you:

To be SURE and stay safe:

- Drink bottled water (with a sealed cap)
- Don't use ice unless it states that it's made with purified water.
- Stay away from lettuce
- Stay away from peeled fruit
- Take a course of antibiotics with you just in case (you can get this from a travel doctor)
- Drink lots and LOTS of Tequila (couldn't hurt  )
- If you're skiing and you fall, squeeze your cheeks together ;)

I know this sounds strict, but if you have a sensitive system, you'll end up squirtin' at both ends...

I got sick on my first trip down (I ate tacos at the local street vendor) and ended up taking the antibiotics. I never got sick again, and by the end of the trip, I was breaking all my own rules.

#47of100TeamMC
03-22-2006, 02:26 PM
I'll take the squirts if I see plenty of this...

I would not drink any water in Cozumel. We stayed at the El Presidente Resort and I got sick from just taking a shower. I would use bottled water for anything I could, ie. brushing teeth! Also, never get any ice in your drink, and never get any alcohol that has ice mixed in. This place bragged about its filtration system, but I still got something and I know it was from the water!

I think you got your bug from someplace else. The water in Cozumel is OK for all uses but drinking. We showered, brushed our teeth had ice in the drinks and ate fruits and vegetables that wer washed in it the entire time we were there and none of us had any issues. Maybe your hotel was having other issues.

You are a better man than I am. Tacos at the local street vendor would be the ultimate in testing stomach endurance....... :(

I spent some time in Zacatecas and Monterrey the past 2 months. All was OK. No "accidents" on the flight home. Zacatecas water supply is supposedly spring fed.

First of all, nice pics Skeeler! We were there about the same time. I posted a few yesterday.
Second, I went to Cancun twice last year and once to the Maya so far this year and have not had any problems. The first trip last year, maybe some squirts for one day but once you get that flora in you it's no big deal. Not to mention, you tend to eat much more fresh fruit and vegetables since they are always around and they tend to go through you very fast.
If you do have an issue, you can get intibiotics at any drug store.
A good AI resort has all purified water and practices safe food preparation and we have not had any issues.
Some people tend to drink too much and get dehydrated and don't realize that the booze and sun can get them very ill too.
Anyway, don't worry so much and go have a great time!

SKIDOG, once one of my neighbors said to me," Why are you always working in the yard, washing cars, playing with the boat, working on the house, etc, etc,?" and I told him, "For the same reason a dog licks his own rear end, 8p ............. Because he can!"
:D ..............Then, I asked him, " Which would you rather see me doing when you are watching me?, working on the yard, washing cars, playing with the boat, working on the house, etc, etc, OR sitting in the middle of the driveway at the street licking myself in the rear end!".......Then I told him,..... "It appeared to me by the looks of everyone else's stuff in the neighborhood, that there was a lot of my neighbors sitting around licking themselves!"...............The subject has never been brought up again!..........I guess I am a dog!!!!!!!!!! 8p

To be blunt MasterCraft Boat Company has lost it sense of humor about the swimsuit threads. I had no idea what was going on in the middle of the night but some of you may have thought you were getting away with something by posting and deleting…I can tell you that it didn’t work it has been seen and documented.

I'm no prude; however, since this board is owned and run by MasterCraft it is a reflection on the company and they are not going to tolerate porn or anything close to it anymore. WE WILL LOOSE THIS FORUM...trust me when I tell you that the order has been given from the top to "shut it down" (meaning the entire site) once already...the next time I doubt it will be able to be stopped.

I understand their position and it is time to move on.
People make mistakes and there is no changing that.
Overall I think that there are a great group of members here that have been very good for this forum and for MC.
I know that I may have "crossed the line" a few times and for that, I apologize.
When you think about it, there are several guests that visit the forum and it is a DIRECT REFLECTION on MC.
All of us need to think twice and use good judgement before we post.
I think that we can still have fun and keep it clean.
Isn't that what it's all about anyway?

You know I, and most of us, would hate to see this site go.
(Heck, I worked up the courage to cut into my hull and install slimline pull up cleats because of someone elses project thread)
I have had some great fun on here with people I have never met face to face. I would suggest banning, after fair warning , those that violate the user agreement in the future although Admin probably has better things to do than slapping hands. It's ashame that we may all have to pay by the loss of this resource/support board because others disregard for the rules.

I'm not suggesting we go ahead and get this place shut down, not at all. but what would be involved in setting up a website just like this one except privately owned and run by one of us? have it still be strictly for MC owners and fans but a little more relaxed in what is posted. same great tips and threads but just less censorship due to their being no liability for MC.

Ah, I see. Yes, the last time people got frustrated with MC's web policies, people talked about starting their own site. I say go for it. The more sites on the subject the better. But this is home-away-from-home for me. I don't have a problem with their rules, whether I agree with all of them or not.

There are other general boat sites out there and MC Specific sites. While they have some good info, none of them see the traffic and activity this site sees. Nor do I get the sense of community that I see here (and I've got a log-in on most of them).

By the way, I have to say that shutting down the whole site because a few people exercised some pretty bad judgment is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Pardon the cliche. I'm glad better judgment prevailed.

I have yet another request. If you all, as fellow site users, see someone posting stuff you know runs afoul of MC policy, don't just ignore it. Say something to them (politely). Be bold. Let's show MC that we can still govern ourselves.

This is my first post on this thread and will be my last. I have to say that the phrase "ownership has it's privileges" applies to this forum. I'm not trying to be site "Dad", but to loose such a great source of information about our boats over some pictures would be nothing short of a crime. This board is a TRUE privilege to ALL of us.

I can't say that I don't go the thread because that would be a lie, but this is MASTERCRAFT, not some other boat manufacturing company. In order to be the 1st CLASS, you have to be the 1st CLASS in EVERYTHING. The name on the side of your boat says a lot about you, reflect that on this board.

Sincerely,
Captain Planet

I don't know about the current vbulletin software, but I have seen options in previous versions giving the original poster/thread starter the ability to delete their own complete threads.....

the drawback is if someone posted valuable information to your thread, but it deteriorated and you decided to delete it, that valuable information would be lost.

Hmm, that's interesting. I wonder how many people found this site like that? But we are where we are at this point. As far as MC's policy, it's not like we can point to another boat-related site, much less a boat manufacturer sponsered site that has any sort of "swimsuit thread." That MC let it go on for as long as it did, even after they knew there were problems, says a lot of them as a company as far as I'm concerned.

As an experiment, maybe someone ought to go start a "swimsuit thread" over on www.themalibucrew.com. It's not sponsored by Malibu. Let's see how long it lasts.

I think it is safe to say this issue has been debated quite enough and I sincerely appreciate everyone trying to understand MC's position on this matter. And while I would not wish for you guys to move to another "private" board, I do want to make clear the rules are set and I have to play by them.

With that said, I encourage us all to move on but in order to do that I would like to receive some input. My proposal is to go ahead and close down this thread and have you guys start a 2006 SS thread that remains within the guidelines and is self governed. Next year about this time, I think we close that down and start the 2007 SS and so on and so on.

Whoever starts the next thread, please be clear about the parameters. No copyrighted material where you don't own the copyright. And nothing that is even going to raise a question as to whether it's okay or not. If MC has a problem with something posted on there and decides to delete it, so be it.

Let's lock her up. I don't care whether there's another thread or not, but if that's what everyone else wants, then so Mote it be. And I'll be sure to check it out.

Whoever starts the next thread, please be clear about the parameters. No copyrighted material where you don't own the copyright. And nothing that is even going to raise a question as to whether it's okay or not. If MC has a problem with something posted on there and decides to delete it, so be it.

I'm not posting any more in this thread.

Is there a way to make the parameters of what's appropriate a sticky post to the top of every page of the thread?

Keep it simple if you think it might be questionable it probably is and don't post it. If your children shouldn't see it or you wouldn't want your parents to see it don't post it. " There's your sign"

My vote is to just shut down this thread and others like it. (My flamesuit is ON)

It just seems that as a group its going to be hard to keep things governed to an acceptable level of conduct and we have proven this time and time again. A high majority, self included, are easily succombed to some "one up manship" and I feel if we "try this again" eventually it's just going to lead back to a level of unnaceptable posts/pics eventually.

I just now read Post 164 and with all sincerity, I'd be very saddened if we lost this site as an opportunity for us to hang out, chum, and share good info. Maybe it's just best we leave this type of topic alone and not post this type of material to the site?

I'm all for it, start fresh annually so that it is not so hard to sift through and make sure the pics are genuine. If you don't own it don't post it. And we fire bomb the H#$% out of anyone who abuses this privalage. I for one hav benefitted greatly from this site and would hate to see us loose it. Besides how else am I gonna get information about the westcoast reunion.

You asked for my opinion, so here goes, Another Swimsuit Thread.....ABSOLUTELY NOT!...........or anything remotely related to it!

There is someone out there, who still does not get it, never will get it or does not buy what has taken place and are bold enough to post questionable pictures of a brick, without a Swimsuit Thread, and it will happen. If MasterCraft and the sincere participants on this site don't react in a quick and proper manner in the future to stop policy violators, this site is doomed. Enough information has been posted and enough has transpired the last few days to warrant a violating Thread/Post be removed, not just locked and the responsible person permanently banned, no warnings, no questions asked.

I for one would have to say that no one here twisted any arms of those not wanting to see a few of the pics in question. The ONLY people in here with any say should be Mastercraft. If they don't want it so be it. Others complaining should have moved on and not went back to the thread plane and simple. Change the channel in other words. To those posting comments about not wanting kids to see are pushing the line of reality. I ask what kid whould waste their time on a site such as this. Its about what Mastercraft wants on the site. I my opinion it was entertaining to say the least and a true ice breaker.

I say move on and not make such a big deal about a Swim suit thread. In a few weeks we will see plenty on the lakes.

Lets hug it out! ;)

I have to say this has gotten enough publicity that I expect to see some trolls coming in to start trouble. The standards need to be enforced and that means some people are going to get banned and threads deleted. I enjoy the off-topic side but I come here for information.

Because the user agreement is not the easiest thing to find, I've updated the FAQ thread and put a link in there to no only the pertinent portions of the user agreement, but also a more in-depth interpretive spin on it. While the latter is just my personal opinion, it might help someone who wants to do the right thing, but doesn't know what that is.

I'm not saying that my opinion on the subject is valid or matters at all. But if it helps keep things focused around here, then dancin' nanner.

I have to say it would be unfortunate if we lost this site. From this site I can personally say several positive things have come together for me, including meeting (in person) new friends, help fixing and working on my old boat and new boat, someone who helped me scout out the boat I currently own, and the list goes on. I would be very bummed if future opportunities like this that ARE available to ALL of us now are depleted due to some bad postings.

Another site I frequent (guitar) is extremely well behaved due to the high number of dedicated volunteer moderators and an iron fisted site owner/administer. One very, very, large thread even has its own mod. The volunteer moderators have the discretion to lock threads, delete individual posts, and ban posters (ip address) if warranted.

Every sub-moderator admonishment is reviewed by the site administrator and sometimes threads do get unlocked and banned posters are allowed back on the site (but not often). This particular site works because the moderators follow the guidelines, are not egomaniacal, power wielding, jerks. And posters know that it is privilege to be able to post and they value that privilege.

Perhaps additional moderators are warranted.

I suggest Eastie and Milkmania.

well, since a few people had more guts than me to post it publicly, I will say my piece. I dont think its a good idea to have a new ss thread. Here's why, the rules will get violated, someday, somehow, you can count on it happening. Someone is gonna press it too far, and jeopardize the board. I dont think its worth it. We really need this board and community. there are other means to view and share pics, we all know what they are. If you dont know what they are, just PM someone here, and you can find out. I dont want to lose this place, its too good a resource. the people here are fantastic, and the wealth of knowledge about MC boats that can be gained here is amazing. I dont want to see anything bad happen to this board. If that means not having a SS thread, then so be it. I truly enjoyed the SS thread and would like very much to have another, but not at the potential cost of losing this board. Flame away at me if you will, but if you dont agree with me, ask yourself this: how many websites can you find pictures of scantily clad women in swimsuits vs. how many websites you can find with a terrific community of people sharing a wealth of knowledge about MC boats, and a passion for their products and the watersports they accompany?? I think that says it all. The SS pics are only a few mouse clicks away all over the internet if you desire to view them, this is only ONE board of this quality and content. Please think about it.

There, I have stepped forward and voiced my opinion. Some of you may be angry at me for saying this, but I think its for the best of the TMC board. :twocents:

DanC- Who are you blaming for the loss of focus? I hope not MC because they are so invisible it's amazing. The SS content issue was discussed in great length not long after it was started and most people agreed that MC has the right to say what they want on their site. Some didn't but they obviously didn't get the point.

I somewhat agree. MC has the right to say what they want but it is a fine line we walk. What is the majority here? The PC? I will say that I consider myself, while somewhat extreme, to be as average as one gets. That being said I purchased my MC to satisfy a lot of primal cravings! This site up until this point has been a blast and yes needs to be somewhat regulated. I see no malicious happennings! Just a ton of people who have a genuine common interest having an incredible time. We get it! There are some who are churchy, geaky, risque, analytical, wild and yes even perfect! Banishing an entire thread? Ever see an MC ad without a slimmie in *** forbid, a SWIMSUIT! A few (me) caused some problems and I get it! DId anyone of you Morons realize you had to hit a few buttons and look really hard to find the abuse we are speaking of? One person is without guilt or blame! As far as I know he has never owned a MasterCraft unless there was a 0000 MC! Some knew better to post it and I know most knew better than to view it! Some people recieved emails/pms and should have recieved them before it came to this. Yes it is an MC site and yes I understand but we are MC and the PC should stay on their wax, Teak and otherwise benign threads. The point is (thank you Rodney); Cant' we all just get along? Can't those of us that just don't get it and are of the minority and have questionable interests and judgement have a thread of our own? We don't do it for any other reason than the fact that we are doing it with our buds be they churchey, risque, analytical, wild and even perfect. Yes I am drinkin'!

Couldn't have said it better :worthy: Thank you for saving me the time. I found this site because I finally could afford to buy my dream boat!!!! I'm a member of the (list) Yes, but I find myself checking in every morning to find out if there is something new that I need to know about my MC or my family (yes you all are my family. Sorry no will !!!) In my opinion NO on starting a new SS thread  Think about what we already have here. I don't want to lose what we have. You never know what you have until it's gone..
