...my hull ID doesn't seem to work with the FAQ #32 description guidlines. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What have you got?

It's an '83 S&S with a Chrysler 440 rated at 330hp and gear reduction/powerslot trans.

just a guess:
mbc = Mastercraft
d= c-440
y= ?
219=Serial number( maybe boat number 219 for the year model assembled early 1983)
m= may
83=1983
g= Gear reduction

Since we're guessing, could the Y be a modifier on the CID of the engine?

Sounds like we're headed in the right direction. Any thoughts or opinions on the Chrysler 440? Was this engine common for MC to put in '83's? Can I still get parts? It may need a rebuild so I'm wondering if it's worth the effort or if I should consider swapping it out for something else. Would like to keep her all original if possible.

By all means, don't go yanking that 440 out of there. There were only so many big block boats, and the 440 in a MC is a rare engine. As long as you don't make it explode, you shouldn't have any problem having a reputable builder bring that 440 back to life.

I had a suspicion it might be rare, and that's all I needed to hear...the 440 stays for sure! It's sat in storage and has not been turned over for about 12 years...think I'll take it to a pro and let them do their thing rather than risking doing any damage to it myself.

Definitely a wise choice. Good luck.
