I've been fighting a number of electrical related issues in my boat, and I wanted to ask the community and dealers out there if anyone had ever seen a bad tachometer or dash gauge cause electrical problems?
It was recently suggested to me that my electrical draw-down problem (perfect pass and radio "reset" every time i start the engine) and my ignition-coil-overheating problem (coil overheats after about an hour of being in the run position) may be related to a bad ground. I've checked/cleaned/replaced/tested every ground wire on the block and in the wiring harness on the boat. I got so frustrated I ran another clean ground from the battery to the instrument panel. No improvement. In short, I know I have good, clean ground to my engine and dash.
So - any war stories out there of a bad Tach or other gauge causing bad ground/other electrical problems? I'm really keen to get this cleaned up. Any help is greatly appreciated
