This site is great! I purchased a 1996 Prostar LT1 last weekend, 121 hrs on boat :) . Two thermostats?!? This is a new one to me. Thanks to your help, I was able to immediatly take care of my motor running hot. Thanks all. My question is: My speedometers have small plastic needles for visual speed marking. It looks as though the plastic needles melted in the sun and are all goobered up (technical talk) and interfere with the speedometer needles (physically). Do these speedometers come apart, or is there any way to access without destroying the speedos? I would appreciate any input, as you guys know more then the MC service people!! Also, anyone know where to get an LT1 shop manual or general Prostar manual (service, not operating)
Thanks
Happy MC owner

Yes they do come apart.
Just take the black ring off, then with the knob in the middle and work the face off.
The thingy at the bottom (technical talk) has a o-ring around it and that and the black ring is all that hold the face on.
That thingy at the bottom (more technical talk) is to calibrate the speedo

while we're talking speedos, i just purchased a 1992 205, the pickups on the back were cracked so the speedo wouldn't work. so today i replaced one of the pickups and as i pulled my son wakeboarding, the speedo didn't work, but i had water flowing onto my knees from the dash...what the heck is up with that...help

check your hoses that go to the back of the speedo's

Forgive me for being ignorant, but I can't get to the speedo's from under the dash, do i have to take off the dash? Is this a big deal? How the heck would it become detached?
There is a perfect pass installed on the right hand speedo spot. Is it possible that the left hand pickup i replaced goes to the right hand speedo?

If you have a Perfect Pass it might be coming from the hose for the Speedo that was taken out.

even if you replaced the pickup to the non-connected speedo, that line should be plugged with a golf tee, or crimped and zip-tied, or any other suitable method to top it up. Sounds to me like that is your problem.

You may not have to take the dash off, the speedo lines come in from the drivers side. You should be able to locate the disconnected line and just pull it out from under the dash. I pulled mine out like this after I installed Perfectpass and had a similar leak, my golf tee had slipped out.
