View Full Version : Barefoot Boom FORSALE STRAIGHT
Will that fit my 91 ps 190?
After a little research came to the conclusion this wouldn't fit my boat. Need the curved version. Got a PM from the seller(sales guy) that it would fit perfectly but I don't think so.

I know the boom is sold. Anyone know if a standard straight boom will work on an 89 Tristar. Does it have a "non-tapered" pylon? Windshield is forward of pylon? Boat is not here. Can't check it out.

The straight boom will work (best) only with the windshield forward of the pylon. I think the 89 Tri has an extended windshield as shown here
http://www.mastercraft.com/market/showproduct.php?product=3429
I have a straight boom for sale. It is identical to the recent boom that Jimmy Bawls sold. This one is priced right at $165.00 UPS ground shipping included. Good condition and all hardware included. It does need a gunnel pad. Otherwise, it's just fine. I bought a BFI so this one is taking up space.

This thread doesnt suprise me one bit. I am a pretty easy going guy and had no intentions of ever discussing my situation with this certain person on Team Talk; however, I must mention my situation after reading these posts. This is a very short version of a VERY VERY long story. I drove 15 hours to PURCHASE an X45 that he had for sale. I was told that the boat had around 400 hours on it and the ad on boat trader clearly stated in writing "THIS BOAT IS PERFECT". I had $15,000 cash in the truck for my deposit. Upon my arrival, I knew I had been mislead once I walked within 50ft of the boat. The interior was in very rough condition (actual tears) and there were scratches and scuffs along with all kinds of fading on the exterior due to sun exposure. The ballast system, hour meter and tach did not work as well. The boat also had over 650 hours on it. When they asked me to make a list of all the things that I found wrong with the boat so they could be fixed, I got a very nasty reply stating this is USED boat so there is going to be things wrong with it. WAIT A MINUTE, the ad on boat trader clearly states "THIS BOAT IS PERFECT". I know I am not crazy because it is still stated on the ad today. The ad is still up but says that it is now "under deposit". I know that there will be a NASTY reply put up after this post is read but I will do my best not to reply and let it go. I just had to get this off of my chest. Many of you guys have the wool pulled over your eyes.

Jim,
You are the only dealer on here who thinks placing a link to the marketplace in the general discussion area is okay. This is not supposed to be a dealer forum but you selfishly use it as one for your own personal gain and think nothing of it. Truly astonishing.

Rant On....
Holy crap batman, why all the hate? I know I have only been around here for a little over 3 years but I WISH more dealers like Jim would post on this board. The few dealers that post (and more importantly reply) are full of good knowledge and advice and if they get some special privelages by posting for sale items (because they also give FREE ADVICE and information) then so be it. Some guy from BF Egypt post a reply on trying to find a part or ask advice about a boat made in 1985 and the dealers on here step up to the plate for FREE and on their own time.
The Marketplace section just does not get the hits that the general section gets so I think we should at least give the dealers a break and let them post links in the general area. What is the difference between the "great finds on Ebay" thread or other links (i.e. onlyionboards) posted in the general discussion area? What about posts by MC by Design?
Don't run the dealers off because the good ones are few and far between within the MC network and are much easier to get in touch with than MC itself.
Rant off........

I disagree. Please read the FORUM RULES. Specifically number 6 which reads;
6. Promotion of Products/Services. In terms of whether a Team Talk member can use the board to sell new boats or other items, the answer is an unequivocal NO. There cannot be any public promotion of new boats or wakeboards or ropes or anything of the sort, especially by our dealers or partners. This board was never intended to become a sales floor.

Stars:
Some of us get tired of reading posts in the General Discussion that are nothing but a "GIANT CLEARANCE - ALL MUST GO" .....
Doing this once in a while is certainly understandable but Jim refuses to abide by the rules of this forum and treats this place like a used car department. It's cheesy, uncooth and shows a complete lack of tact and integrity.
I have seen one of Jim's PERFECT boats and well.... it was far from it.....

I guess I owe an explanation here! I guess the big thing is that "YES" you did drive from Atlanta to get here. Yes we took photos and emailed them to you with ALL the info that you requested prior to you driving down here. But I think you have failed to make the final point. You made offers on the boat that the owner DID NOT accept based on what you feel needed to be done. All the issues that you requested where going to be taken care of. This was a CONSIGNED boat not on our lot. As I recall you had other X45s that you where looking at, but they where not in your price range.
If this is your opportunity to "PILE ON" then go for it. I am not asking for the thread to be deleted. I will defend myself and not run. If I am such a BAD dealer. I think that it would have come out over 2000 posts ago. You forget this is a PUBLIC FORUM. All are entitled.
There are 2 sides to your intended purchase. You made a decision not to purchase.
I think that if you look at the owners weekends that have been saved by us taking the extra effort to resolve many an issue. It totally out weighs this one unfortunate event. If you dont think I was not upset that would could not make a deal happen you are wrong.
You did your due diligence and we provided you the info requested. $500 in repairs and a stern buff out are not that big of a deal.
Hey maybe I need to tighten up a little. My place on this FORUM is different than owners. I provide a service and do our best to make customers happy no matter who they are or where they reside. Fault me for that...I have NEVER had an issue on this site over a boat sale NEVER. With that said. Sorry we could not make a deal happen!!!
The X45 is under DEP. It is going to Turkey. The new owner requested a person come and survey the boat. All was fine. A new trailer arrives on Tues for it, then the balance of the funds will be wired in...so now ya know

Giving out free advice is part of being a dealer. It's called customer service. It makes people say "hey, that guy was a big help to me, I'll buy stuff from them." To have something for sale every once in a great while, a good deal, sure. That doesn't bother anybody here that I've seen. But to use this place as you personal advertising company? It gets extreme when everything that you have for sale has it's own thread here through.

I agree you have to take it slow with the butter when adding it to the eggs, work a couple of tablespoons in and whisk the yolks alternately over the heated water and off the heat we dont want scrambled eggs we're looking for hollandaise sauce right.

I deleted that thread and it was not because of your post. I noticed the post here too and did not delete it. There is no problem posting problems that you have with a dealer as long as it is presented in the proper way. And you did that. In fact even if someone had requested me to delete your comments I would not have.
A few years ago I had huge issues with a dealer which made for some interesting reading over the course of a few days. I was glad then that it didn't get deleted and I will always show everyone the same respect. Unless it crosses a yet to be determined line.

I do not think this is the place to hash out past issues. Take it into private and keep it off the boards.
From this point forward, no for sale ads will be permitted in the forums, unless it is posted in the For Sale, Free, Ebay, Craigslist, BoatTrader, Coupons, Specials, Services for TT thread or the Market section of the site.
I am going to clean up this thread and the other thread that was closed this morning and repost in the thread listed above, less the drama.
Thread Closed.
