Has anyone ordered a bimini top with a zipper or hole of some kind already in the top for an extended pylon? I have tried a few different places and they don't do it.
I know Johnson will do it, but I don't want to spend 600-700 bones on a new top that I won't use that much.

I may end up ordereding one without the opening and takeing to someone local to have a zipper installed. I would think this will be another 75 bucks.

I've battled with this on two tops. The first top I had was one out of Overtons "Gotcha Covered" cheap POS. On that one I measured and cut a small circular hole and then took some extra nylon strap I had from my boat cover and stiched it with sailing thread around the perimeter of the hole.

I got tired of repairing that top and it not holding up as well as I like and sold it. I purchased a Johnson for $500 w/aluminum poles, rear stanchions and zippers. That Johnson top is awesome!! Plus they gave me a military discount.

I have also seen someone cut out a square hole but not cut the fourth side (a flap) and then sew in velcro so they could close the top if they weren't using the Skylon.

Overton's sells a Taylor Made bimini with a zipper hole for the pylon. Seems it was cheaper than $500-600.
On my boat, I flipped the bimini around so that it hangs over the windshield a bit, and the pylon fits nicely right behind it. Still offers good shade for the driver/observer.

I saw the one at Ski Limited with the zipper for 290.00. It comes in 48 and 72 inch length and I would like a 60 inch. Yes, I know I am being pickey but arn't we all when it comes to a memebr of the family.

Is the Taylor Made material the same quality as Sunbrella?

I have the Taylor Made with the zipper, Been on for half a season. Seems to be a real nice top. Got it from Overton's. 72 inch. Now I just need the extended Pylon and a board. Bought it with the Zipper just in case I get brave.
