I get a call and the wife says neighbor wanted repay us for all the tows we gave this summer to the kids. So with nobody around she pors gas in the boat and in the process the nozzle comes off the can and down the fill. So what are the odds it made the tank and I am thinking it is ok to run it until I get out of work and try to figure this out. Am I thinking right or am I not. Help me here, kids on the dock waiting for me to call back. If you say it is not ok to run I am blaming you so I will not take the heat from the kids when I get to camp in 4 hours. Thanks again everyone

I don't think it made the tank, and you gotta ask yourself, if you were standing there would you let it go or do a little fishing with a hanger?

I will fish this evening with a hanger, plus the neighbor will feel like crap so maybe a free dinner tonight. Thanks again for the quick response. This site is amazing

I would not let my girl friend, sister, mom, if I had a wife or mother in law, or any other lady diagnose my boat. From my experience they are not as mechanically inclined as I am and I would want to fix it myself after I got off of work. Who knows it may not be as bad as it really is.

The last thing you want is a fire or explosion....

Please dont think that I am calling your wife stupid or that I am a sexist.

I guess that the lady's down here were I run are the type that have to have everything done for them. There would be no way that I would let them start a hobbie of working on my boat while I am at work with my tools.

It's probably stuck in the hose that leads to your tank. Take the clamp off the hose at the tank and try to fish it out from there. The hose comes off easy, just be careful if your tank is full to the top.

If it's in the tank already, it should not block the filter or hurt anything in there. I would recommend removing it in the future by removing your fuel pump module.

I do not read to deep into your reply. I was not happy that someone put fuel my boat to start, but I also have not second thought of my wife or 14 year old daughter running our boat. They live in all summer while I work to keep the tank full.(the neighbor did not think it was full). I am goint to look at it in about 2 hours and then all will be well. Thanks for the reply

For what it is worth, I did the same thing about 3-4 weeks ago and have run my boat everyday without issue.

In my 94' tank, I have a secondary bucket that the fuel picks up on. Anything that would fall to the bottom would not have the ability to get into the second bucket. Also, I have a screen on the bottom of the fuel inlet......

hey, look on the bright side, you can replace your fuel pump while you're in there! ;)

ok, I will bite and ask the stupid question that is not obvious to me... How is the neighbor repaying you? Is he providing the gas? Was it his can? If so, the hassle is not worth it, just provide cash. Good luck and you should be able to fish it out one way or the other.

The gas was the payment. Sounds like the "payer" is farther behind then when they started. ;):D

Yes she thought she was doing a good thing and it was a good thought, but I bet she will not attempt it again. Agree send cash. We did not expect them to do that, because I love to see the kids skiing. Our group are about the only ones doing it. Ok everyone had there fun with this one.

I think it's a great effort from your neighbor.....just an accident happened. No Biggie.

In Idaho, we were burning almost a tank a day pulling cousins and friends. I was not going to turn down any gas at that rate!! The day we left, the remaining crew went out to use the SeaRay.....it broke down and had to be towed in. Bummer.
