i have an op to buy a 1986 TS....its got a 351 Ford...issue is i will only be using in the ocean.
pretty good chop on some days..at least 2-4ft on most...:confused:
want to use it for a lil family fun, no skiing or wb, just cruisin, tubin and some fishin......:D

As a former Tristar owner, I can't think of a worst boat, for the conditions you discribed.
Simply, they were not designed for the use you are wanting to use it in.

If you love your family,stay away from the ocean with a Tristar.

I recently got an '88 Tristar; great boat, I love it, but would never take it in 4' waves.
I've got to be careful when turning around to pick up a skier, when I cross my own wake (not more than 1-2') to keep on the power a bit or it'll break over the bow.
I presume that you could run it some decent waves if you kept on the power, but no idea how you'd stop to fish, or turn, or anything like that.
