Alright gang, I joined this forum 6 days ago, found a boat for sale within 5 minutes, drove from Grand Rapids Michigan to Knoxville Tennessee and back straight thru, and now a Mastercraft owner. A dream come true after 30+ years of dreaming.
I purchased a 1992 ProSport. I has been ridden hard. The hull is in very nice shape, the interior looks like it had never been hidden from the sun. No big deal, i have 5 kids so i don't need to be stressing about them stepping on the seats with sandy feet.
I've started to polish the gel coat, and have taken tire white to the interior.
So far here is what i have determined is facing me.
1) Speedo doesn't work, do-hickey on back of boat has been smashed.
2) Perfect pass doesn't work, needs cable from carb to adjuster, also only seems to be set up for wakeboarding...the module under the dash is labeled wakeboarding module, a disappointment given i am a slalom guy.
3)Fuel gauge doesn't work
4)Nav lights don't work. the dash lights do work.
5)Transmission leak, slight, will probably have to replace seals.
All these things were disclosed to me before my trip, so no hard feelings there. I have been very impressed with the participation on this site so i'm excited about hearing some of your advice.
I'll be a regular here now...I will keep you informed of my progress.
Any suggestions on what i've discovered so far?

Welcome. Great looking boat.
You can get a replacement pitot pickup from www.skidim.com
You can get a replacement cable from www.perfectpass.com or www.skiertoskier.com. If it's wakeboard pro, there should be an rpm mode that will work great for slalom skiing. If you're a course guy, you can add the magnet sensor/smart timer.
Likely your fuel sending unit. Betsy just posted the part number in her thread about her 93 Prostar. Will run about $80 for the part if memory serves.
While your at skidim, check for replacement bulps. Both skidim and perfect pass have excellent customer service, so don't hesitate to call and ask them questions.
No idea about the transmission leak, but someone will have some suggestions for you.
Good luck.

Welcome,
your PP will be fine for open water slalom in the "RPM" Mode, but in a course, you'll want digital pro with the magnet sensor
you can get a new cable direct from PP for about $40 (I think)
skidim.com probably has that pitot pickup to replace the broken one but you won't really need the speedo to work if you have PP working and have a thru-hull paddlewheel.

To add on to what Ric said, digital pro is the same as wakeboard pro, but has the mag sensor/smart timer.

Congratulations on the new boat. The two "gentlemen" that have responded I have seen to be some of the most knowledable in this forum so you are headed in the right direction. I have been soaking in this information for the last three months as fast as I possibly can and have leardned more than I could have imagined.
Are you from Grand Rapids then? If you are then you are in a locale concentrated heavily with M/C owners. They are really all over the place.
Welcome and good luck with the new boat. Red is nice.

you all are awesome.
Yeah, i'm from Grand Rapids, Mi.
My buddies and i were skiing at Skipping Stone, utilizing the course of the owner of the local MC dealer. We would buy bouys for him.
I'll be keeping my ProStar at my folks lake, no course allowed, so i will be free skiing...at least this will keep my pulling muscles in shape.
Because my brothers both have Mastercrafts, and the fact that i've been skiing behind those owned by others, i have been wearing MC gear for years. I'm so happy to finally have my own. My 9 year old daughter nailed it after my 22 hour whirlwind trip to get our boat, she said "daddy, your dream has come true."
I really look forward to interacting with you all. Thanks already for your input.

Under the Maintence threads in Team Talk, go to the Other category. I placed part numbers in there for the steering cable, side mount fuel pump and the fuel sensor. They should be the same for your boat since they are the same hull and close to the same year.
Welcome and good luck!

Hey someone after my own heart. I drove 45+ hours (San Diego to Lake Texoma, Oklahoma, 2780 mi.) to pick up my 2000 205. It is never to far to go to get a good deal and to buy into the boating dream.
