Thanks alot!! I'm sure as soon as we get it running i'll enjoy it...we have some sort of electrical problem with it now. :( I think the starter solinoid is messed up.

Sweet ride. If you need any help with anything this is the place to ask. Also, I just did a lot of work on my Tristar so don't be afraid to ask.

Well the previous owner told us that every now and then when you turn the key that nothing would happen, you just had to keep turn it back and forth untill it started. Well it almost left us stranded the other day so I decided to take a look at it. We tried replacing the switch with a universal one but could figure out where all the wire went b/c it was 6 prong instead of the stock 4 prong. Well after that didn't work we put the stock switch back on and a new starter soilnoid on and still didn't fix the problem. It began cranking on it's on when i hooked the battery up. Even with the ingntion switch completly unhooked and no wires touching the boat would start cranking when i hooked the battery up. So i hit the solinoid with a screw driver and it stopped that problem. So i don't know what to do with it...i think that universal switch might have messed up the new solinoid, what do ya guys think? I'm stumped, i know it's either got to be the switch or the solinoid. Where can i buy a Mastercraft switch and solinoid?

One more thing I read somewhere (not sure if it was here) about people disconnecting the orange wire on the solinoid going to the coil b/c it was cause problems. Is this true and should i try this?

Does the boat have a breakerless igintion? or are you still running points?

Yes it still has points and a strip of circut breakers on the back of the motor on top of the tranny. We just changed the spark plugs and points in it.

I have a 1990 Maristar 210 and ran into the same problem. All the gages worked when you turned the key but the engine did nothing. The local Mastercraft dealer changed the solinoid and the problem was gone. Mine was under warranty at the time so I don't have the cost to replace.

k pope -- how clear is sinclair? seems to have good availability of lake places for sale, right? also, how does it compare water quality/clarity wise with lanier and hartwell? reason i ask is that i am looking to buy a lake place in ne florida, but may have to consider ga. know lanier gets much boating pressure on weekends, but have heard it is great during week.

Sinclair isn't that clear especailly not after it rains. Hartwell is much much clearer. And it's about the same as Lanier. Lake property on Sinclair has gone out the roof in the past couple years. For example we just bought a two acre lot (in town) for 325k w/ a little 2 br 800sq ft shack on it...we plan on tearing that down and building next summer though. As far as availability there are many lots/house for sale for reasonable amounts but anything close into town is going to cost ya. Personally i love Lake Hartwell b/c of how big it is you can find a place for a good price and it's really good water only problem is most of the time you will have to drive a good bit into town! I was up there all weekend and on the 4th and the water was never too rough to wakeboard...it was really nice. Just really all depends on preferance.

here are a couple links for houses/land on sinclair:

Found it from an old friend his mother died, she owned the property and he sold it to us soon after that. Good luck with finding something...Let me know if you have ANY questions!!

If the starter stays on after you turn the key, but does not start the motor, your ignition unit is probably the problem. (It just happened to me on my 2000 205, a month or so ago). It was $60 from my local dealer (On the Edge in San Diego) and took me about 5 minutes to install. I numbered the wires off the old ignition so that it was easy to rewire to the new one.

Well we got the starting problem fixed...it was the starter solinoid...it starts now it just will not turn over...it's gotta be the points and condesor in wrong b/c ever since those were changed we never had the boat cranked. Guess i'll find out tonight!
