finally a MC in the family.

I have been lurking on here for a while now without posting much. I used to own, please hold your laughs, a Gekko GTS-20. It really was a great boat for a two member ski team (by no means even close to a MC), and treated us very well. This forum helped us learn so much about and maintain our boat, I never really thought I would get to own a MC, but I dreamed about it a lot.

Well, dreams really do come true!! Here she is, our bought new in 2010, 2008 MC Prostar 214! We owe a huge thank you to Jim and the rest of the folks at Houston Mastercraft for making this happen for us. We have been looking at this boat at the boat shows in Houston since early '09. For some reason, this boat never sold. For us, it is everything we wanted in a boat. The color, options, the mini-tower, KGB ballast system, tandem axle trailer, etc.....

Please let me know what you think of her.

We couldn't be happier, and are looking forward to many seasons of fun in the Texas sun!!

Nice Boat! Of Course, I am partial to red and white on a boat. I too, have been happy with the service at Houston Mastercraft. Have fun on the water! If you're on Lake Conroe, don't forget to tie up and eat at the New County Line BBQ restaurant on the water. Tell the owner, Juan Gutierrez, that Lee from Kingwood sent you. He'll fix you up!

Love those boats too but have a 197 on my heart and mind at the moment. Hope you enjoy it, if you ever want some great river skiing, let me know.. I have the place.

Thanks to everyone for all the compliments. We couldn't be happier! I can't say enough about what a superior product Mastercraft is compared to other boats I've owned. The hour meter shows 13.6 hours as of last weekend. We are dropping it off for its first service this afternoon (10 hour service). Can anyone tell me exactly what needs to be done? I'm sure the Houston MC can tell me, but I would like to know if there is anything special I need to be asking them to look at.

Update: We have really enjoyed the new boat so far this summer. Up to 16 hours so far with the only problems being a failed front ballast pump and a bubble/peeling MC decal. Both fixed under warranty by our dealer. It is currently back at Houston Mastercraft having the brakes looked at. For some reason they have stopped working right and we are heading Lake Austin/Travis for the upcoming Labor day weekend, so good trailer brakes will be a must.

Anyone else going to be in the Austin/Travis area for Labor day? We are staying at my parents home on Lake Austin, but will be hitting up Lake travis at least on of the days. It would be great to meet up with some other MC owners.

Also, we are in the market for a bimini top for our mini tower. Our dealer has quoted us $995.00 plus shipping for one from MC. Does anyone know if there are any other options? or maybe a better price?

Say what you want about the Gekko, but that GTS-20 would out-track a 214 any day. On the other hand, it is a definite upgrade.

Yes sir, I loved the old Gekko, it did track very well, but the PS214 seems to track just as good or better, and there is no comparison on quality. The MC is 10 times the boat the Gekko was.
