Previous owner removed water separator. I have it and want to put it back on just don't know where it goes. Also does it plumb in before of after the fuel plump?

83' S&S 351.

Thanks

If it is a carb it is plumbed before the mechanical fuel pump. Usually mounted just below the fuel pump in the bilge.

Hard on fuel pumps when they have to pump trash. Filter in front of mechanical fuel pump. I actually install another fuel filter just in front of carb if it has a rubber fuel line. Deteriorating rubber from the alcohol in the fuel stops up carbs.

Your seperator should be under a gold plate right behind the drivers seat in the engine bay.. loosen the nut on top Unscrew from the bottom and it will pop off... Make sure you dont forget the rubber gasket when reinstalling..

This is the one the previous owner gave me that he said he took off. I looked all over the engine trying to find where it would mount with no success.

Maybe it is the wrong one. If anyone has a pic where it mounts that would really be helpful.

It is a 83' S&S 351 PS.

Thanks!!

It mounts to the port side of the gas tank on my '84. Same filter you have pictured. There should be a tab on the tank with two holes that match up with the two holes on the bracket on the filter housing. Remove the panel behind the rear seat/in front of the tank. Facing the tank there should be a small space to the right of the tank where it goes. It's a tight squeeze.

Thanks! I searched all over the engine where that thing would go.

I now wish I would have put it in when I had tank out.

A fuel water separator for your boat could be 1/2 the size of that! I have seen centrifugal fuel water separators that are smaller than that!

I actually wonder if you can still find the filter elements for that thing!
