Hi,

I am considering going for 5 days at the beginning of August in the Thousand Islands. I am looking for tips and information for both lodging and the boat. I would like to bring my X2 but I am woundering how safe it is to navigate there and if I could leave the boat attached to a duck without risk.

As for the lodging, I have 4 kids and would like a cabin that has easy access to the water.

Any suggestions are welcomed, I can go either on the Canadian or the US side.

Thanks!

The boat will probably be OK, but I don't know about that duck! :D

There are a ton of shoals there, stay within the channel markers!

Never stayed on the Canadian side, but this looked like a pretty nice resort when we were up there.

Not sure about cabins, but there should be plenty of them around. Check Alexandria Bay, Clayton, Ivy Lea, Gananoque (sp?)
For skiing we used the Lake of the Isles, pretty calm most of the time just get a chart first.
You can dock your boat and visit Boldt Castle while you're there, a must see.

I was up there years ago. Stayed a week with some friends on Jolly Island (their island). Great place, but quite a boat trip to get out there. The water gets pretty rough out there. Be careful...

They used an old Hacker Craft as their taxi during the summer. Drove across the ice in the winter.

I thought I remembered something a-boot that, so the MC does not sound like the correct vessel.

I footed an endurance race on the MO. River in St. Louis after the barges crossed in front of us, this guy below is goin'n alot slower but I can only image the rollers here would be quite a challenge to barefoot across as well.

Hi NJSkier,

Do you remember what the Log Cabin looked like at that resort? We will finally be 8 and that cabin could accomodate us pretty well.

Thanks

Thanks for everybody's help. I found a cottage on an island that I rented for the first week of August. The whole family is very exited with this trip and I just hope we get decent weather.
