My 86 pro star goes max speed about 41.5- 42mph with a 14x18 3 blade. I would like it to go about 2mph faster for barefoot. What propeller should I buy - thanks Rocco

You might wanna give either Acme or OJ props a call. You need to know which motor and tranny you have. I ordered a Acme last year to replace my stock 13x13 as I wakeboard and barefoot behind my 97 PC190, he actually recommended a 13x12, which I have been super hap[py with. Even though its a lower pitch I actually gained some top end, using my GPS, it says my top speed is now 44.9, I was right around 42 before....

Yes ...sounds to me that your prop may be too large....thus not letting your engine turn in it's proper rpm range. I also had an 86 back in the old days and if I remember it had a 13X13.

14X18 is the correct factory prop if he has the powerslot 1.52:1 trans.

speed as a lot to do with condition of hull, prop, good fuel, elevation, temp, etc. all play a role. is the speed test done with a GPS?
my boat varies between 43-45 depending on many things.

Assuming you have the 351, 240 HP, 1:52:1 transmission, you should be able to get 45 assuming the engine is running right and the 14 x 18 prop is in good condition.

I have the same setup and can get 46-47 MPH GPS WOT.

In genneral, once above 25 MPH, you should have 1 MPH per 1000 RPM
(3600 rpm = 36 MPH)

The ones with the 1:1 tranny did, the powerslot had 14x18
