Then clean those bilge pump screens. Noticed my X went from expelling water like a fire hose, to a dribble and finally to barely nothing. Yesterday, after pulling the boat out of the water, I was surprised to see just how much water I had in the bilge. I figured, plugged bilge pump screens had to be the culprit.
Here's the procedure: Amass as many pneumatic tools as you can muster, a cherry picker (engine hoist), a welder (wire feed preferred) and a Super Sawzall. Then, take those tools and put them away. All you need to do is squeeze the sides of the pump (the pump nests inside a base and is held in place with two tabs on the side of the pump housing). Lift the pump out of the base to access the metal screen. Clean the screen. Put the pump back in the holding base. Done. Not even a one-beer task. Doah.

I will see about that this weekend.
I bet I can killer a beer before I get the engine cover open and a second before the job is done.
That makes it a 2 beer job.

I should have been more clear. When I estimated it was not even a one beer task, I was thinking about the mid-ship bilge. To do the aft bilge, then I must recalculate. I usually kill at least one beer just looking at that gleaming V-8 once the cover is up. Probably another dispatched while cleaning up the aft bilge...Then there's the celebratory beer once the project is completed. Yea, its clear now I was being a bit too cautious in my initial assessment.

It was understanding that there was a two beer minimum for any job you do on a boat. At least that's what I've been telling my wife for the last 10 plus years.

Could have at least popped the motor out to wax the bilge while you were down there.

That's some funny stuff right there! As I was reading, I was thinking, "holy crap, here's another job I can't do for myself." Nicely done!

Rear screen was full of carpet fibers and front was plugged with boat compost.
