I am trying to do some research and figure out what the difference is between the 02' X9 and the 05' X9? the obvious one is price; does any one know what else?

They have changes instumentation and some interior "features", the engine HP is different and the biggest change to my knowledge was the addition of the "hook" to the rear portion of the hull to help minimize the ski wake and keep it from porpusing (sp?)

......... and keep it from porpusing (sp?)Oddly that you mention porpousing... I had a 79 model that I never got the porpous out of it.... Unreal... That thing would porpous at 37 - 38 MPH with no stopping it. Lipped it, weighted it, and finally resolved it by selling it (disclosed issue).

The guy was happy to have it no matter what... test drove it and all...

Yes, same boat without the added ballast system. Generally the X-9 is equiped with the MCX engine - rated at 350 HP. I have a 2002 - PS209 with a standard 310 HP engine.
I had my hull replaced this past winter and I now have the "hook" because my hull is now the same as a 2005 - and I do notice the difference of no porpoising at high speeds.

I owned an '01 X-9 and now have an '04. '01 (same as '02) did porpoise but the '04 does not. The biggiest thing to me was the quality of the the boat. The '04 seems to be much better built with thicker windshield frame and support along with a much improved look to the dash. Personal preference. I got the bigger engine (350 mcx) in the '04 as well for the weight we add from time to time.
