Hey everyone, I've been lurking a while since getting the "fever". I grew up on the lake but moved off for school, life, etc and now I think its time to get back on the water. A friend of mine found this relic the other day so I went to check it out. I didn't give it a complete inspection but took a few pictures. They are asking 5k but I think its a little high. FWIW, I'm into the 70's Mastercrafts... bubble windshield, etc. What do you guys think?

Thanks,

Sounds high but at it's age the price is whatever someone will pay. I would walk the floors and test drive it before I bought it. Hope they just unhooked the front strap for pictures---. I even have a safety chain that hooks into the eyes on all my boats.

I would say if motor is sound, it's not bad. You reach a point where what is a running mastercraft worth. I know they should make that color scheme today. Awesome looking. If it only has 450 real hours, you may find it a bargain. Have you run it?

Sounds like a bit much to me. Maybe they'll come down some for you.

If it had a recent rebuild (stringers, floor, motor) by somebody who knew what they were doing and did a good job, I would say price is not too far off. However it looks a little rough fotr that price.

Also the swim platform looks way to big. I am usre they adapted a newer one to fit the old narrow boat, but in my opinion it should be cut down in size.

It sounds high to me, would have to be in pretty darn good condition, looks like from the pics that there is a lot of cosmetic issues. Would have to drive it and whatnot to really know.

Look at it this way.....at least you get a free picnic table to eat your lunch on after a hard day.

Thanks for the comments... I may have to hold off on this one if he can't get right on the price.

There aren't many 1976 Mastercrafts around. If this boat has a solid hull and is complete (it appears to be) then the price isn't far off if you want a '76. Keep in mind that fewer than 500 of these boats were manufactured in only the 9th production year for MC. Anything else can be replaced including stringers, floor, engine, transmission............ but this is the last year for this hull.

On the other hand, if you are satisfied with or would prefer a '77 or later hull, there are more reasonably priced boats on the market.
