So I got in my boat this weekend and the stereo wouldn't work. Its an 02 Xstar with factory stereo. The big amp doesnt have a light on and all fuses are good. Any ideas? The head unit still works just won't put out any sound

Is there a fuse on the amp itself that you have checked?

Time to break out the ohm meter, do you get power to the amp, also is the remote line still attached to the amp?

Fuses on the amp also.

This is a great oppurtunity to upgrade to that monster system you have always wanted.....

Use a multimeter and check power going. Also check the remote power wire. Probably a blue wire on your amp. Mine came unplugged a couple weeks back. I have 3 amps with 2 of them feeding off the first for power/remote power. So now I have 3 new amps because I did not check the remote power first. but my boat rocks!!!

After checking all these things, if you have a detachable face on your head unit, remove it and look for a small hole, this is the reset for the unit. Use a paperclip to reset unit.
